Change from halogen to led with these connections

Did what I wanted in fixing a downlighter

Bought some phillips GU.5.3 bulbs and the pins were slightly fatter than the ones I had installed. When i tried to swap them they folded over the metal inside rendering them useless for both the new and old bulbs. Bought these and tested on the new bulbs before fitting and they went in without any problem. So it seems these have better connectors that my previous ones. Negatives. Wire is plastic coated instead of mesh braid and the leads are maybe bit short but easily long enough for the job.

The quality seems good and it solved my problem. I only needed one so I now have plenty spare.

Does the job, bulb holders not as cheap and nasty as some others

Poor quality. Purchased in 2022, and have had several of these fail. Some have not allowed the LED's correctly sized bi-pins to be inserted, and others have developed poor contacts, causing lamp flicker and pulsing. (Have used only high-quality Aurora MR16 LEDs, Doyle&Tratt Varilight transformers, and quality cabling . . . in case you're wondering.) Best avoided, as other reviewers have noted. Additional info: Like others, having had seemingly folded contacts and intermittent operation, I opened one of these up today (Nov.2025) to examine the internal contacts. Both were loosely mounted, flimsy, and with almost no spring/gripping action. As suspected.
