Great samsung memory SD card i bought 2!
I was excited to receive the Samsung memory card as I needed it for my wife and myself, we take a lot of pictures and videos of our little toddler and family so we needed the memory. The packaging is standard, it came in an large envelope (which was tricky as the SD cards were so small it fell out I didn’t realise until later due to the large envelope) and the SD cards came in a plastic package.I received the 64 GB memory card, it’s fantastic as I have more memory than before. It’s easy to use and I slipped in into my phone. Its waterproof which I particularly liked as in case my phone gets wet or ruined by water I know my data is safe in the SD card. It is also temperature and shockproof which is handy especially as I use my phone a lot even when cycling and exercising. So far I have had no problems with the SC memory card and it is running smoothly. I am confident that it is of good high quality and it will last me a long time, so I am highly pleased with this item. Once I installed it , I found it to be fast and effective no hassle which is brilliant. Obviously in order for my SD card to do its job I had to make sure that everything I wanted backed up is to be backed up on the card via setting, so I don’t lose any precious memories and important documents. Samsung has established its reputation and I have always used Samsung to be honest it has never let me down, my experience found that it is a reliable product and their memory cards are worth a buy. Overall this product is really good and I would not hesitate in recommending this item to anyone.

Good product at great price but something is strange with always reloading thumbnails with 2500+ photos in gallery
It's a good product and works very well, although i have noticed something strange:The "gallery" viewer of my S5 seems to almost always reloading thumbnails even though they are cached earlier.Even if i slowly browse with the gallery viewer so thumbs are generated, at some point down the line, say next week i browse again the gallery, then thumbnails seem to be loaded one by one again. If i go to Application Manager > Gallery, i can see that under Cache i have 132 MB, checked just now, which seem to me that they are cached so shouldnt do it all again? My wife's S5 has my old 32GB card (slower than my new one) which is even old from a few years ago and on her phone the cache seems to work, sometimes it's maybe with the empty thumbs but then it quickly loads them all up - under "gallery app", cache reads same at around 105-110 MB there. One difference on my phone is that i have way more photos all in one folder, i also tried having many folders.. no change (I have around 2500 photos) than the other phone, so maybe that's the issue? I tried several times to empty cache, dalvik cache but no difference whatsoever..phones are identical.Shall i delete some photos? Happy to follow the discussion here[...]thanks,Gabrio

SD cards and help FAQ if yours does not work.
Model here is Samsung EVO microSDHC cards.Colour = white plastic top, black base plastic, with orange stripe on top.The supplied usb reader is usb2 only (has blue r/w led)Availble with usb reader (silver - thin metal appx 45mm), microSD to SD card adapter/converter (Hama), or on its own.No problems, Ordered two, both checked out as real ones, speeds on usb2 are : - 19 write 24 read, and the other one is 18 write and 26 read when writing large 1GB files over. ALWAYS TEST with H2testw when you firstly get them out of the packaging; type H2testw in google to download for free to test if your usb memory key or MicroSD ot SD card is fake.... MOST ARE.On the back of packaging it does say "USB reader made in China" and no mention of "Korea", but on the SD card it is solid white plastic toped with black plastic back (note not white paint - see white chipped/not to edge paint and it is fake). On the black side laser etched numbers (not ink) of lots of batch numbers and the "MADE IN KOREA" - !!! If this says "MADE IN CHINA" for or "Made in PRC" then it is fake. Model here is Samsung EVO SDHC cards. Also note if you are buying SANDISK Ultra cards in MicroSD format - there is a quite a large batch that failed made - fault = card drops out after a short while, this is a controller problem not memory issue, people are blaming their tablet or phone.Sandisk are replacing these, but it is easier for seller to replace or refund. That is why now after I got caught out in this and now buy Samsung. Also note most Sandisk fake cards are in fact real and made buy Sandisk - 1) batch failures and stolen, xxGB sticker and hologram stickers are real but has memory location failures (you wll lose you data), these where supposed to be destroyed at the factory but some how got stolen and resold on, and with REAL packaging 2) Real Sandisk low GB and sold as high GB, More information see Sandisk website.Watch out when buying memory, and there is no such 128GB for £10. The going MRP rate is £1 for 1GB, sale price £0.50 to £0.75 per GB, anything less question it.Also note HC and XC in SD cards. XC may not be compatable with HC readers in phones and tablets.1) If buying XC make sure it has U1 or U3 with 10 in a circle.2) HC 4 in a circle is fine for audio (rare availabilty now), 4= 4mb/s3) HC 6 in a circle is fine for 720P , + 2), 6=6mb/s4) HC 10 in a circle is fine for 1080P, +2 ) and 3). 10=10bm/s!) There is no more numbers after 10 in a circle so , hence 10 in a circle for 20mb/s / 45mb/s and 90mb/s.!) as they went to XC mode design and U1 U3 design specs. 1 = 10mb/s 3 = 30mb/s!) If you use for kindle/ebooks and mp3 then circle 4 is possible, but by 6 as minimum*) as 10mb/s is so cheap now and is the norm (with 4 and 6 not being made), if in doubt just buy 10 in a circle or U1(with 10 in a circle), and only upto 32GB.!) if no circle or U then it is basic = 2mb/s and you need this for 2GB and 4GB old digital cameras and old mp3 players.*) Do not buy more speed than you need, ULTRA is the NORM at 10mb/s with a 32GB max in SDHC (circle10 or U1 with circle10) (not SDXC labeled) at it 99% will work with most devices made in the last years. If you have a HD720/1080P 300DPI or phone display (retina/oled) phone display then pro or extreme can help those slow loading of 720P and 1080P videos and HD3K photo taking, but again you be proberly locked to a max of 32GB.*)Only a few phones and tablets can use 64GB SDXC (Samsung S5) and even less 128GB SDXC, mainly Samsung S5(some top versions) and S6(all), and the latest HTC one M7(some)/M8/M9. There is no SDHC above 32GB as there are not techically possible, hence SDXC is born. HC / XC means the controller chip inside the card and not the memory. XC needs a XC reader, and HC needs a HC reader, all backwards compatable so SDXC can read SDHC and SD as well. SDHC readers can only read SDHC and SD. mini/micro/midi/full makes no diffenerce as they are all the same it is just the shell package size. You may get HC working in a SD only reader (as i have done before) but it will be slow.!) All SD (SD/HC/XC) slot readers, ie micro to full SD size are all interchangeable as there is no electonics involved, so a slot adapter with only SD on it will be HC and XC compatable, most are all made for Hama (Germany) in China and Hama rebadge them for the major brands, ie SanDisk. You may find in a Sandisk retail bundle a Sandisk labelled SD adapter with Hama ink/laser etched underneath - this is normal - as Hama supply Sandisk with Adapters. Note Sandisk and Sandisk website say they do not sell retail packages with adapters, and they will tell you that your card is fake, this information is complete nonsence - Sandisk DO sell retail bister packaged SDHC and SDXC cards with a Hama "SanDisk" labelled SD adapter for the EURO market !!!! and now a USB2 adapter made out of some sort of thin silver metal.5) Slow write speed then change your usb reader to example Kingson G3 or G4 USB3 reader, even if you use in a USB2 port mode.6) If you have a internal reader, then use a USB with 5) on your device.7) There are two types of 32GB SDXC for confusion, one will work in SDHC mode and one will not, to be sure buy SDHC only.8) There is a FAT32 maximum limit (again), this is at 32GB, so do not use FAT32 above this limit of 32GB.9) Yes you can reformat a 32GB SDXC to FAT32 to get it working in your device.10) Yes you can reformat a 64GB SDXC to FAT32 to get it working in a 32GB limited device reader, but you must partition to two 32GB areas and you will lose one of them, so maximum available will be 32GB to your device if your device can only handle a maximum of 32GB.... This is most of people issues here.11) Using FAT32 above 32GB format size when forced to do so, ie 64GB/128GB memory formatted to FAT32, it will work if the device can handle that size, but 1) you will find it will get slow 2) all of a sudden files will got to lost folder, and data eventually will go currupt.12) If you ONLY use you usb/SD memory for Linux based devices, then format to EXT3 or EXT4 instead of FAT32/FAT64/FATothers.13) Linux (google) Andorid devices can not go beyond the 32GB barrier, it is possible to force in a rooted device to 64GB, and use EXT3 or EXT4.!) Using EXT3 or EXT4 in Windows, no it will not read it, there are forced software available to root windows7/8 but use at your risk of Windows currupting your data. EXT3 and EXT4 is more reliable than Microsofts FAT32/FAT64/FATXFS/NTFS etc.!) Where you can; - for SDXC use EXT3 and EXT4 and you will have less problems, (if your devices are compatable, this is the future way forward over compatabilty issues that FAT has is that FAT (and NTFS at high GB) will eventually go slow and then currupt.!) Google are looking in to Andorid being patched for norm that builds will allow EXT3 and EXT4, at the moment android only accepts FAT32 so limited to 32GB barrier unless rooted and forced with Linux patches. Android is a reduced linux build package so it can accept EXT3 and EXT4 with ease, or look at Firefox-mobile or Ubuntu-mobile os builds instead of Android. Some Android 5.1 builds have EXT switched on from new.14) SDXC U1 is SDHC 10, the barrier is 32GB limit, hence rebadging XC and HC at 32GB, hence two models, SDXC that works in HC at 32GB is in fact a SDHC, and SDXC 32GB that you can not get working is in fact a real SDXC; Real SDXC you will see a benefit in USB3 mode the other you will not. Hence why people sometime are not seeing the speed.15) Speed issues - change you reader if you can, use a reader in a usb2 or usb3 slot, usb3 slot may be slower than a usb2 in some cases on your device so check it out. You will never get the advertised speed, You do not need anything higher that 10 in a circle or U1, the others are speed needed for expensive quick burst cameras taking 50 snaps a second or a HD4K video camera - so don't waste your money.16) For hardcopy backups - use compactflash it is more long term reliable for safe-storage of data in a safe. Yes it is more expensive.17) Using SD cards for os booting will usually last six months, so watch out - this is normal not a fault, it is writes that kill SD cards so make sure you install a SSD version of OS that has OS writes switch off at install.18) SD cards are designed for video and photos only when SD was born, (ok, text .pdf and ebooks are ok also.)19) Compactflash (CF) are designed as simple HDD's, so if you need more life, use the more expensive CF cards, and turn off os writes at install, not after installing on to SD or CF cards.Summary - If unsure then buy 32GB SDHC circle10 with or without U1 logos, and NOT SDXC.and note circle10 and U1 means 10mb/s ; - so do not say that advert is showing 45mb/s 95mb/s and it only gives 15mb/s in test, this is normal. If you need ultra speed, buy "Extreme plus/max" ie 95mb/s and use usb3 usb key adapter (not usb2) and used in a usb3 port, and not a sd mirco reader adapter in your laptop internal reader slot. 45 and 95mb/s are for cameras and HD4K video cameras and not for files, ie you will get fast small files but slow large files transfer times, not both if used in computer modes !!! These types will go faulty early if used for os boot drives, as they are not designed for it, SD is was never design for this, CF compactflash was.Technical -SD has to use USB, serial technology.CF uses UDMA technology(IDE/-?SATA?in-newer) as default, later USB has been built-in is a design extra bonus.SD is for file storage. ie FDD - Floppy drive, ie look at the shape to a floppy, firstly Panasonic designed SD for camaras to replace XD.CF is a memory solid state drive (SDD). ie HDD - Harddrive.Don't confuse designed use of SD with CF.People are pushing the limits of SD and using SD where they should be using CF, and then moaning that it goes faulty early. Most USB memory sticks are infact the chip from SD cards inside, hence why they fail early life in os boot modes.
