Great product with terrible packaging
I was initially very excited to try this product. I had been looking for a whole-food solution to ultra marathon nutrition for some time. The gel itself is great*, and would get a 5 star rating if not for the packaging. All the ingredients are recognizable, the gel isn't overly sugary like most, and it sits well in my stomach. The packaging has two critical flaw, for which I am deducting 1 star each:1. On about 10% of the gels I received, the "tear" line is too high up on the package, meaning you tear the top off but the package is still sealed and the gel is inaccessible. This may not sound like that big of a deal, but... when you're at mile 80 of a 100 mile run, in the middle of the night, it's cold and raining and you really need some nutrition, the last thing you want is a pocket full of gels that you can't open. I ended up running 5 more miles into the nearest aid station where they cut the top off with scissors. Very frustrating.2. Not sure what the solution is to this one, but the edges of the package are super sharp. If I can actually open the package (see complaint #1), it ends up cutting the corners of my mouth when eat the gel.* The taste, in my opinion, is not great. Manageable, but not something I look forward to eating.

Very Tart for a Vegan Gel
Very tart...didn't expect this product to be tart...but I like tart. My gut tolerates it well. Will continue to train with it. Most likely will use it on Ultra Race day.

Real food energy
I love the stuff. Tastes good even if it has warmed up for a long run. I use it during the run, not just for recovery. No gut bomb. Endorsed by sally McRae, so can't go wrong.
