Great tool
I was considering which cable tool to get and after a lot of reviewing I decided on this one, I did look at the Park version but decided to give this one a go. I usually use pliers and what ever comes to hand but decided it would make sense to get the right tool for the job. very easy to use, saves time and frustration I would recommend it.

Easy to use, freeing up a hand
I wish I had one of these from the start, there's now no more fighting with the cable and you free up one of your hands. It seems well made, not at all flimsy and should last a long time. Once you get the hang of how to engage the cable into the jaws of this tool it's easy to use. The tension to apply to the cable can then be ratched in to your desire. You can then let go of the tool which will maintain the tension giving you up to 2 hands to tighten the retaining bolts or fiddle about. The only downside is that it is a bit expensive for what it does but it does work well.

Nice tool and good value
Always been amazed with these when watching mechanics use them but never had a pair. This comes with no instructions but was able to work it out fairly easily and it’s such a simple and effective tool. Perhaps a luxury for someone like me but I like tools and this is a good one. Usually happy with Draper tools too.

Useful addition to your toolbox but only when changing cables
Really fiddly to use and only seems to work when you are changing cables and have lots of Spare cable for the tensioner to grip. I’ve therefore never really had chance to use it but I can imagine it will be useful when I change work cables.

Not often used, but a gamechanger when you need it...
I bought this quite some time ago, but have only recently gotten around to using it for the first time whilst replacing the gear cables on my road bike. As others have pointed out, if you're someone who only occasionally tinkers with the cables on your bike, you might not need to use this tool very often, but it makes life so much easier if you have one of these to hand. Really simplifies the job of tensioning a cable whilst you tighten a fastening bolt. Although I have a number of Park Tools in my toolset, I can't see much difference between this Draper Cable Tensioner and the Park Tool BT-2 Cable stretcher - so I'd have your hard earned pennies and just go for this instead - maybe the Park Tool BT-2 is more durable in the long-term if you're using this regularly as a bike shop mechanic, but for occasional use the Draper tool is absolutely fine. Whichever tool you choose, spend less time tearing your hair out and more time riding your bike!

Works but no a solve all solution
Best for new cable installs with enough spare cable to use it. It can mess a cable up if you pull/squeeze too hard (as I found out) it squeezes the cable that can do as much damage as a pair of pliers. I also embarrassingly took time to work out one lever end needs to push against the deralliuer you use it side on. BUT if you get it right it does the job and gives just about sufficient tension for gears.
