This is a good bit of kit for the money
This is a good bit of kit for the money. If you want to quickly copy and transfer old paper photos to a hard drive and likewise for old negatives it works. Agree the image crops from the original and may not be as fine as a scanner. However, far quicker than scanning and a lot less hassle. For what I wanted it is great.

Very impressed.
So easy to scan slides onto my iPhone 4 & after a while the images also appear on my iPad. I'm scanning very old slides ((36 years plus) I've got nearly 1000 to scan. Had I taken them to a shop the cost might have ranged between £500 - £2000 but with this scanner I can sit on a night, watch tv & process a few slides at a time to suit my time frame. The scanner is light weight, doesn't have to be on a flat surface to use it & im very impressed with the scanned image. When I've finished the slides I'll try scanning old photos.

Easy enough to upload the photo but terrible terrible quality
Bought the product to upload some old slides my father had found , the product is a great idea and very easy to use however the quality of the pictures is terrible , firstly it crops off a large part of the picture which you cant readjust , secondly the quality of the photo is very very poor . Maybe its the quality of the original slides ( although I don't think so) , maybe its the quality of the Iphone camera ( again I don't think so) or maybe its the scanner itself .I guess its another case of you get what you pay for !!I returned to amazon for a full refund - great customer service from them

Not Practical, do not waste your money
that is all. Initially i ordered to create a digital library of my slides. After creating 2, i gave up using it. It takes lots of efort, and the built is very cheap and takes ages to create file, and there is no control over quality, hit and miss...not receommended.

Good idea to look at negatives
Lots of negatives that were basically rubbish. Now I have a reasonable picture. Took a while to get it to work. Read the instructions first and it's simple. Try without reading and you end up like me confused and cross. A good bit of kit.

I've tried for years to find a good way to scan the thousands of old slides I have. This is by far the fastest and easiest one to use and the quality of the scans are very good.

Use iPhone 4/4s to "scan" negatives, slides and photos!
The iPics2go is really great for people that have progressed with technology but still have a shoebox of negatives from the "old days" when they used 35mm film. Or people that inherited said shoebox filled with slides from their parents. The colors are a little dull but it is still really great and doesn't need to be plugged in. It uses batteries so you can move around your house as you're "scanning". I use the quotations around scanning because you're only taking a picture with your iPhone, not really scanning. Now i will try to explain the magic! The iPics2go uses a light to illuminate your image inside a tray placed in a box. From there, you place your phone in a holder to keep your phone steady and placed directly above your image. Due to this, you're limited to the quality (which is pretty awesome) of your iPhone's camera. You can also download the free app you need to convert your negative images to positive images. So far the only drawback, for me, has been time and the fact that you cannot do 5x7" photos. The time is obvious, every image need to be placed in the holder and centered before clicking your phone (duh!). I was hoping, even though it did not specify on the box, that I could find a way to do all my 5x7" pics. No! Short of trimming the actual photos there is no way to use this device with 5x7" images. *sigh*All said and done, this is a really nifty device! Very worth the $29.99 I paid for it!
