TrixieExercise Wheel, Plastic, ø 20 cm , Assorted (Pink or Green & Blue)

This wheel is amazing and my Syrian Hamster Flo absolutely loves it. She has no arch in her back (great size) and uses it for hours! I was sent the all black variation which looks great with her cage. It's super quiet and you can barely hear it. It works well on the stand, however I clip it to the side of the cage and it's perfect. I have given it 4 stars as the plastic is a bit flimsy, so be careful when cleaning to prevent it from cracking! The swirl pattern is also a sticker which starts to peel after washing it lots. I highly recommend getting some sticky stuff remover so you can wipe it off; this stops it from looking tacky! It's easy to disassemble and clean too. I'm so thankful I have this wheel; I don't think you'll ever find a truly silent one but this is pretty close.

I bought the large size of this wheel for my Syrian ages ago, and he absolutely loved it. He runs on it all night. So I just bought the smaller size for my dwarf too, even though she basically never used her old wheel so I thought she was just a lazy hamster. She loves it! She finally does something other than sleep! Now she too, runs all night long. They aren't silent, but I don't think any hamster wheels are. I don't sleep good when there's noise but these wheels don't seem to bother me much and I can sleep with them being used (until a hamster poops in it and the poop turns the wheel into a rattle!)

Really pleased - this wheel is great for larger hamsters i.e. Syrian's as the wheels that come with cages you buy in the shops just aren't big enough and our poor boy was not getting not much exercise but he LOVES this wheel and uses it all the time! We ordered the 20cm diameter wheel - were worried it wouldn't be big enough but the larger size would have been too big for his cage, but he fits in it perfectly (he doesn't need to arch is back) and at 21cm tall (whilst on the stand) it fits the top level of the cage but only just, phew!! If you are looking for a wheel for a syrian and can get this in your cage, buy it - its great!

This wheel is the perfect size for my dwarf hamster. Here is a list of my pros and cons:Pros;- Easy to clean; the front can be taken off/put on with ease. (This is my favourite feature as I started off with a wooden wheel but found it difficult to clean when my hamster peed in it, so swapped to a plastic wheel).- The stand is very sturdy.- It is very light so it's easy for a dwarf to move.- Quiet (I can sleep with my hamster running full speed in the same room as me).Cons;- The wheel is slightly wobbly on the axle but it is in no danger of falling off and doesn't impede movement.- Would prefer if there was no central axle as it would be safer, but at this price I can't complain, and my hamster doesn't seem to fling himself around too much.Overall, I really like this wheel for my dwarf. He can move it easily, it's very quiet and easy to clean.

My last two 20cm wheels (only suitable for dwarves!) have unfortunately been noisy enough to put off a very active Roborovski from using it more. This one is even screeching. Not having 24/7 access to a suitable wheel causes them a lot of stress - often leading to bar biting, bar climbing and “monkey barring” (stress behaviours).Additionally, a 28cm is minimum for a Syrian and your cage is unfortunately not big enough if it doesn’t fit (4,000 cm² minimum according to Blue Cross, Origin Vet Clinic, Wood Green, etc.) as a wheel smaller than that is painful for them, even if you think their back doesn’t curve. My 28cm ones haven’t been silent, but were better than this. The wooden ones are supposed to be quieter, but need to be covered in non-toxic coating to protect from urine.

Quieter than silent wheels I've had - I can barely hear this one when I'm in the same room!The clip is more sturdy than those on silent wheels too (I've had 2 snapped clips on these where the clip joins onto the wheel) but it is 1cm wide - our cage bars are 0.5cm apart so it was a real squeeze to force it through the metal bars and then twist it to secure it. I also had to clip a couple of mini bulldog clips over two of the bars underneath the clip to prevent it sliding down - a bit of a faff, but it's fine now. Now it's on it's staying on though - I'm going to clean it in situ!The drum of the wheel is quite flimsy & flexible, so you do need to have the front bit clipped on to make it more stable - I was worried our hamster might not like that, but he's had no problem with it and loves it. The fact that it's a bit bigger than the 6 inch silent wheels also helps - his back is staighterthis. Do bear in mind that, if you are unable to secure the wheel to the bars, you'll need to use the stand, which will obviously make the contraption taller than 20cm.Despite the slight difficulty fitting it, I'm giving it 5 stars because it's cheaper than the "silent" wheels that I've had, its better for the hamster and it's quieter.

My rodents ADORE their wheels and have sampled all types. This isn't my personal favourite as they always immediately chew the edges and eventually the contrast rim falls off. Then they chew it some more until you draw blood on the jagged edges when reaching in. The wire base isn't all that stable but handy if you want to attach to cage by hanging upside down from bars. It's cheaper than most others but you have to calculate it's only gonna last a certain length of time. I prefer the Trixie wire ones but I've been slated more than once on other review/sites for my preference, being lectured loads about the perceived inherent "danger" - in over 20 years of rodent ownership and over 150 of the little Beasties doing their worst, (chewing, peeing, banging about, practicing for the Olympics) I have NEVER experienced any injuries or worse.

Originally bought it for my Russian dwarf hamster as needed a last minute replacement for his last one but this was too small for him is advertised as a 20cm wheel, his last one was a 21cm and fit perfectly, but the inner dimension for this one is smaller and closer to 18cm, but ended up using it for some baby mice and was perfect size and they prefer this one over their other ones I have and is easy to clean but does have a bit of noise that might bother some
