Arrived in unbranded plastic packaging. The gel pack is separate from the band so just the gel can be placed in the freezer or microwave. The whole thing has been very thoughtfully designed. The band is soft where the pouch inserts and then stretchy which enables it to fit most sizes. The pouch fits easily into the cover and then the band is pulled over and secured with a velcro fastening. I have only used it in the freezer. I had a swollen ankle and this was really effective in reducing the swelling. It kept cool and the velcro helped it stay secure. Great price point. Happy to recommend.

Brilliant, I should have tried this a long time ago instead of struggling with a bag of frozen peas! One of the great things about this gel pack is that it doesn't go completely solid after being in the freezer and can still be flexed. Pop it in the freezer for a few hours then slip the pack into the provided arm band and pouch. The pouch helps protect your skin against freezer burn (the pack gets extremely cold!). It took a bit of practice at first to place the pack around my arm and then wrap the elasticated bandage over it by myself (using the other arm), but you eventually get the hang of it. The elasticated bandage has a velcro type fastener at the end to hold it all in place. I suffer a lot from muscular soreness in my tendons due to using the computer mouse (just below the elbow). For years I've tried heat packs, pain killers (ibuprofen, naxopren, gels) and failed to see any improvement. Within 20 minutes the ice pack was making a big difference! It is recommended to use it for no longer than 20 minutes at a time as it's very cold, but it definitely worked for me and helped the muscles feel a lot better. In combination with a brace to strap around the same muscle I am now able to control the muscle soreness when driving or using the computer (I'm left handed). You can also heat the pack in a microwave and use it to relieve aching muscles, works well for my neck and shoulders. Once it had defrosted I warmed it for about a minute in a 900W microwave and then continued as instructed to heat it at 10s intervals until it was hot throughout. Probably best to be careful not to heat it too much though. The pack is obviously a lot more pliable when hot than cold, but it seems strongly constructed and well manufactured including the bandage part. Even after 20 minutes the pack retains its coldness or warmth and can be reused time and time again. Definitely recommended to try if you suffer from muscle pains from modern life. Great service too from Gelpacksdirect who posted it free very promptly and nicely packed to pop through the letterbox. Heating instructions are also printed on the gel pack should you need a reminder. The pack contains a non toxic gel so no worries if it gets damaged.

I find this works very well when used for icing. Put it in a freezer, belt holder and all, and it will reach a nice uniform coldness, which is great.For heat it is not so good. The instructions say 30 seconds in the microwave, but I find about 40 seconds is better. The problem is that such a short time produces variable results with my microwave, so sometimes 40 seconds is not enough, and another time 40 seconds is almost too much. Furthermore, when using the gelpack inside the belt pouch provided, not all parts heat up the same. For example, there is a strip of different fabric close to the end of the pouch part that holds the gelpack, and this strip heats disproportionately hotter than the rest. As a result, when you wrap the completed belted unit around your leg or body, the heat of this little strip will sting unless a folded piece of fabric or paper towel is put between it and the body, which is a kind of fiddly and frustrating thing to have to do.For heat I prefer a a cotton covered wheat bag. Mine takes about one minute 45 secs to heat up, and the heat is more consistent and evenly spread out.

Excellent product. It absolutely is remarkable what a bit of cold for a swollen ankle can do. It always has. But the quality and ease of use with the strap with this product is great!

Perfect for my need. Great adjustment to fit a number of areas. Well made and great use being used hot or cold.

It’s very good and so handy

I brought this after it came up as the top result when I typed in “shoulder muscle pain” and could see on the photo that a man had it strapped up on his shoulder.Even though the gel pack is great, and stays cold for ages, when I put it in the strap and wrap it under my arm it’s so tight it starts to move up towards my neck and feels like it’s strangling me. I have tried to get it into a comfortable position to no avail. With the shoulder injury I can’t pull it around my back anyway as it hurts to try and get it to stick with the Velcro.I have still used it and just left the gel pack to rest on my shoulder, and it will probably come in handy in the future with the strap for other injuries, but the sole reason I brought this one was for my shoulder, which I can’t comfortably use it for, hence the 3 stars.

These reusable Gel Packs are brilliant! I used one for an ankle sprain and it was so much easier to use than a traditional ice pack. The flexible design let me wrap it around my ankle comfortably and it stayed in place. Cooled quickly and gave great relief. The Velcro strap is really durable. Highly recommend!
