OXO Good Grips Chef's Mandoline 2.0

This is an excellent machine. Oxo items are always robust, easy to use and well made. Despite this, I sent it back because it was a little too large for everyday quick use. It is a sharp, precision item and if I used it several times a day I would have kept it, but I decided to go instead for the smaller Oxo mandolin, which is smaller to store and is quick, handy and easy to use,

I thought it'd be nice to get something to help me slice veggies etc after damaging my hand. I saw this get glowing reviews so I thought it'd be worth the price tag. Sadly the item I received has what must be a blunt blade as it can't cut worth a damn, tearing things instead. Then I found out the little triangular shredding blades were bent badly. This is because they weren't properly aligned with the grid in the area above them so when they were "popped up" by turning the cut wheel, they bent and curled over. The force exerted by the spring in the "Gripper" is quite high, making it awkward to use and the "legs" on the underside of the mandolin are wobbly. It also doesn't grip the counter surface well, so it wants to slide about when used. Overall, it feels like there is a good product here, but it's let down by many elements. I contacted OXO via their website and submitted a ticket. A week later it's not been replied to so back to amazon this goes :/ Edit/Update: Gets better. I did get a reply eventually to be told they did not supply spare parts and to just "return it".

I love this. The best mandolin I have ever had. With my previous one I would have to change the blades, but with this one you simply use the dial on the side to adjust the width of the slice. Very sturdy. Has a great handle. Easy to clean. Excellent safety feature where you can close the blade and it looks cool.

This is very well made and works wonderfully - my cut vegetables now look very exotic. However, I would recommend you also buy mesh safety gloves (kitchen type for preventing cuts) as the blade is extremely sharp and it's all too easy to cut yourself. I would not allow a child to use this product for this very reason.

So I’ve had the small version for four years and been very happy with it, but it suffered from two issues. Firstly if you had something big to slice you’d have to cut it in half first sometimes and it wasn’t thick enough to do chips. However it was easy to store, it was so small it could fit in multiple places and could even hang it up and the guide would clip to the mandolin itself. The larger one is more flexible, maybe as much as three times the size and the guide does not clip, but has a clever push system. The only problem with the bigger one is the space it takes up. Honestly both versions are excellent. If I had to buy just one, I would go with the bigger option as long as you have the space to store it. Hopefully the picture helps you gauge the size better.

Brilliant

I had high expectations for this slicer, based on the brand reputation and the higher end pricing of this particular model. Unfortunately, it failed to deliver on the basics. Whilst it made light work of thinly slicing cabbage, it failed miserably to julienne carrots (see picture). It couldn't fully cut through them, so the matchsticks were still joined together. The only way to seperate them was by manually pulling them apart. That's simply not acceptable for a item at this price point and was the reason I ended up returning it. I also wonder if the mechanism for adjusting the slicing options is a little bit over engineered. It worked ok but I'm not so sure it would stand the test of time. On the plus side, it is a substantial unit and does appear to be well made. Overall though, a big disappointment.

大きいサイズのプロフェッショナル向けマンドリンスライサーですが、うちでは家庭用に購入しました。同じOXOの家庭向けスライサーと比べると２倍以上の大きさです。ですが、この大きさのおかげでキャベツ半玉を乗せて直接千切りキャベツが出来ます。他にも棒々鶏や冷やし中華などに使うキュウリの千切りや網目切りのポテトや人参を作るツールが一体化しています。何より主要部がステンレス製なので、キズや変色も無く衛生的です。またカッター部がそっくり取り外せるので、目詰まりの清掃が瞬時に出来ますし、シャープナーを上手く使えば斬れ味の再生も出来そうです。大きさも価格も家庭用OXOスライサーの２倍ですが、作業スペースの確保さえ出来れば、カット形状が１種から４種に増え、グリップやスタンドが付いて作業が楽になるなど、機能も性能も格段に向上します。日本語の取説等は付属しませんが、スマホカメラ連携のGoogle翻訳で内容は十分確認可能でした。 OXO製品全般に言える事ですが、品質が良くても入手は困難。今回も仲介頂きました千福商会さんにてアメリカでの在庫確保から輸入・国内検品から配送手続きを経て１０日間ほどで到着しました。迅速で丁寧なご対応に感謝申し上げます。

This is a solid quality slicer - I have used it for large zucchini/squash. The included holder makes fast slicing easy and safe as it protects your hand from the blade. It can make very even and thin slices - takes seconds to do an entire vegetable. Makes uniform slices and fries, but the waffle setting is tricky to use - great for freezing veggie slices/fries!
