Stanley Tylon Pocket Tape 3m/10ft Carded

Great product but terrible rig impossible to release the item from The packaging I nearly cut myself very badly. Cos need to consider this and sort it out. Therefore only 2 stars for this item.

Took me 5 minutes EACH on a pack of 3 to unwrap from shrink pack or other heavy duty plastic packaging Absolute NIGHTMARE. The tapes are good....enough...especially for the price....but really Stanley....it's like your product designers got round a table and said "right....let's see how difficult we can make them to get out" Bar Stewards! Yeah I am turning into a grumpy old bloke....

Tape measure was compact and ideal for me to carry in my work coat pocket. Unfortunately the first time I used it the tape measure wouldn’t retract (the locking mechanism was not engaged). Had to throw it away as it was no longer suitable for my needs.

Stanley usually means reliable and tough. So when I bought this small tape measure I assumed it would be fit for the name. It’s possibly this one was a dud but it didn’t even last long enough to do one job. I used it to measure some cuts on my railway sleeper and the tape just came out and snapped. Disappointed

Initially thought this was a really good buy, however after a couple of weeks of light use, the button to hold the tape measure out in place doesn’t work and when you go to put it down, it starts to retract which is incredibly annoying.

I think most good reviews for this are people who haven't had it for more than a couple of months, as I was perfectly happy with this tape measure until it failed on me this morning. It will no longer lock, rendering it pretty much useless. Bear in mind that I'm just a regular guy who uses it maybe a couple of times a week, not someone who is using it all the time, but it still failed after only two months. As I say, I think the positive reviews are from people who have only just received and started using this tape measure. Such a shame. I would definitely advise people to not waste your money on this, as you'll be buying a new (different) one a couple of months later.

Initially, I was pleased with the measure, but the first time I used it in earnest, I pulled the tape measure out, and the tape itself separated in a final way from the spring. I took the whole thing apart, and try as I might, I could not put it back together again. In the end, it was binned. This is not the quality of design and manufacture I have come to expect from Stanley , and which have helped me throughout my career, being now over fifty years behind me. Very, very disappointing.

The product received was completely different to what is listed. I lost my favourite tape measure recently that I had for 15 years, which was identical to this listing. I'm a joiner and loved my little pocket tape, so I was looking forward to receiving its replacement. What I received is a cheap and flimsy tape, only up to basic tasks. Unsure if this is a mistake from Amazon dispatch or what, but I will be returning and hunting for a better replacement.

I bought it for table top games, but I am suprised how often I grab it to use it for other things. Need to visualize how large 40 cm or 15 & 2/3 inches is? Just use it. Want to meassure something for whatever reason (how much space do I have to fit a couch? How wide is my current mat and how large would I want my replacement to be?) etc. etc. At this point I have this meassure tape with me at all times, just like a pocket knife, multitool and a lighter (I don't smoke). Simple tools that will always come in handy.

Great little tape measure to keep in your pocket when woodworking. I find 5-8m tapes too big and The 2m ones can be a little short.
