Question 2

The lock doesn't have the 3* symbol unlike other locks. Can someone confirm why? Would i really be purchasing a 3* lock?

If they do not have the 3* mark it is unlikely to be a genuine current high security lock from Avocet or any other supplier. Recommend returning  for refund if already in your possession. It could just be an advertiser using an incorrect picture but it is not worth the risk of installing a lower protection or fake model for the sake of a few pounds.

How is this 3 star? the image doesn't show one star on the kitemark

All my ABS Euro 3 Star locks have 3 stars above the heart shape symbol. The pictures shown may simply and inadvertently be old ones of Euro locks not of 3 star security type, although it is possible those actually to be supplied by the advertiser will be genuine 3 star types. I would suggest you get written/email confirmation from the advertiser and refuse any offered or supplied that do not bear the 3 stars. Anything less is not worth the greatly increased risk posed of wrenching etc. attacks.

British Kitemark TS007:2012

BSI TS007:2012 is the revised British Kitemark for euro cylinders and security hardware.

This new Kitemark uses criteria of the past Kitemark tests, i.e. BS EN 1303:2005 and BS 3621:2007 and PAS24:2007* but now has additional tests which use a common method of attack known as “lock snapping”.

Euro cylinders and security hardware will now be classified under the TS007 British Kitemark with the use of a star rating system.

Euro cylinders can be rated as one star or three stars and security hardware will be rated as two stars
