Green Feathers Wireless Bird Box SD 700TVL Camera with Night Vision, Receiver and USB Connector- Record To PC, Motion Detection, Garden Wildlife Kit

We had a bit of a nightmare in this. We focused very much on the "wireless" in the title and didn't look at the description properly to see that the camera still needs a power source. I see from reviews that others have made the same mistake. However, if you look at all the other models on the market, they all need a power source so it's our mistake. Thankfully the seller is very good and, clearly having had this issue before, responded quickly and instructed us to get an extension cable which we did and this meant we could fit it properly. It was Christmas present for my in laws so although I've not looked at it recently, it certainly was working when we left. Now we just have to wait for the birds to arrive. I definitely recommend this product but be aware that this is not completely "wireless". You will need to be able to position the box in an area where the camera can get a power source. Ours is on the side of my in laws' garage with the wire going through a hole in the window frame. Measure the distance you'll need and get the version with the correct lead. Or buy the extension lead (from memory 10 metres extension was about £6). The seller is very helpful so I'm sure if you contacted them before purchase they would be able to advise you. The picture is very clear considering how far it has to go so if you do manage to work out the logistics I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

I wanted to replace the camera in our bird box that has been in use for many years and has provided much pleasure and entertainment. There are surprisingly few options around to choose from, so it wasn't difficult to choose this. It was easier to set up and install than our previous camera, as the original had an extended aerial, whereas the new aerial is only around 20 mm long. The old receiver unit had a tuning dial which was very sensitive and required tweaking every time it was switched on. This unit has no tuner, it has a 4 way switch and you just slide the switch until a picture appears! Lastly, the image is marginally clearer and more stable too. These are not cheap compared to a compact CCTV considering they are much the same thing, but would I buy another, yes, I would.

The video on the Green Feathers website was the most useful for setting up the camera and installation requirements. Depending on your style of box it’s not always possible to screw the camera in place but I used Gorilla tape and it seems fine. Picture quality isn’t perfect but good enough to view what’s happening in the box. Fortunately I had an external plug socket in the right place otherwise purchasing an extension cable would have been essential.

The package arrived amost the next day and pick up was so vert simple and FREE! Brilliant!. I WILL DEFINITELY USE THAT METHOD AGAIN. The camera is a super piece of kit. So easy to set up and the picture quality is very, very good. The camera is made of metal and appears to be very strong and should last for a substantial amount of time. Tips for installation and trouble shooting are very helpful. All in all, a really excellent experience with a brilliant piece of kit. Many thanks Colin

Setup: This was quite hard as I was modifying my own bird box but they give you all the necessary screws etc. that help you to do this so all I needed was a screwdriver. The difficulty was with connecting to the tv. The wireless works but I needed to buy a separate 6 quid RCA to hdmi converter to make it work. If you already have one of these or a tv that still uses RCA it will be easy and they’re booklet is very helpful. Equipment: Camera was nice and small and easily fit in the box to give a good view point. If you are having problems focussing then unscrew the lens a bit. Included extension cord was helpful to connect it to the mains. Video: Ok but stutters and for some reason is slightly pink? Not sure why but works well enough through a wall about 5m away.

Please don't waste your money on this awful camera, it looks like I did. Really terrible after sales service, too. After losing one of the tiny screws from the bracket (the screw is literally about 2mm long), I contacted Customer service to ask them if they would send a replacement screw. I appreciate over the Christmas & New Year period things are slower. They wanted me to pay £7 to send me a replacement screw, which I refused to do, so I sent a SAE for them to send me a screw, the 1st class postage would have been more than enough to send the screw. A couple of weeks after Christmas, I contacted Customer service again to ask where my replacement screw was. They stated they never received my SAE, again offering me the Royal Mail Special Delivery Service at £7 to send me the screw. I refused again. In the end, I used another method to secure the camera inside my bird box. So, I got my bird box with camera situated in the roof, fixed to a bush in my garden. When I switched on my Tv, all I could see was a very faint picture of the inside of the bird box, which was jumping around, certainly unwatchable. So, after checking all the wired connections were correct (they were), also moving the channel switch on the receiver, which did no good, I thought I would move the bird box nearer the house, which I did. Still the same terrible, jumpy picture. I then brought the bird box into the house to try and better the picture. Please see attached video of the result. The video Receiver is only 2 feet from the bird box and camera, yet the picture remained the same, flickering, jumping and unwatchable. A total waste of time and money. AVOID!!

Bit of a faff fitting it into my own bird box but the quality of the end product is great. The down side is that we all spend far too long looking at the TV screen watching the blue tits setting up home.

The camera arrived in good time and was well packaged. It produces a good clear image and fits easily into an RSPB nest box.

J'ai une petite fenêtre sur la fin de ma maison de ferme dans le loft un chaque année, il est à la maison à une paire de crécerelles. Cette année, j'ai réparé la fenêtre pour installer une caméra vidéo et cet appareil photo fonctionne très bien à mon ordinateur, TV etc Un bien construit solide mais petite caméra et le Wifi fonctionne bien. Un excellent système pour un bon prix.

Leider sind die Kabel mit GB Stecker. Für die Steckdose in Europa ungeeignet. Man braucht 2 Steckdosen Adapter dazu! Die Inbetriebnahme ist ein bisschen kompliziert.

Die Kamera ist bei uns ca. 30 Meter vom Fernseher entfernt und geht durch eine Hauswand. Wir hatten sie auch schon im dritten Stock angeschlossen, während die Kamera im Garten angebracht war. Ton gibt es nicht und man musste für unseren Fernseher einen extra Anschluss dazu kaufen. Alles in Allem: super Qualität der Kamera und es macht so unfassbar viel Spaß den Vögeln zuzusehen, sie haben bei uns sogar Namen bekommen. Ob es einem der Preis wert ist liegt natürlich in der Begeisterungsfähigkeit eines jedem selbst.
