Genuinely impressed
It's the 1st detector I've bought and it's been easy to get used to, I've got wireless headphones via a transmitter for it that cost a total of £40, well worth it. I've had good finds with it so far and although I'm keen for an upgrade now I'm into the hobby, the next one is 5xs the price of this one so to me that's a good indicator that this garret is the best I could get for my budget and seems to be the best avaliable before a serious upgrade. If your a 1st time detectorist then I recommend this 100% and also the garret carrot pinpointer. It's £100 but well worth it. I got a cheaper one 1st and it was no good. Wasted my money.

It's not too bad.
Used it a few time like, Dose a good job but if i'd had the dosh i'd off gone for the mine lab equinox 800, But you pay for what you get, Easy to put up out of the box & to use.

Garret ace 400
I bought this metal detector, for myself as I did have the garret 300, my wife decided she wanted one so she uses that! This metal detector is not much different to the garret 300 it is more accurate at pin pointing finds and has an iron audio with tells you if it's iron so you don't have to dig it, I would recommend this detector it's good at finding coins as I have found a few with this j bought this detector after watching a you tube review its easy to assemble, and light perfect for me just pottering around!!

Nice and easy
Just managed to go twice on a search but so far it works very good. Assembly was pretty easy, so we’re instructions and set up. Would buy it again.

New to this and seems good gear.
Did some research and this seems best 'non pro' detector and well made. Searched down to around 6-8 inches in my garden and found some interesting stuff although sometimes it would give a signal then not in same place. The main problem is size, depth and materials - it gets confused with larger targets giving stronger signals and in discrimination mode metals like aluminium, gold and non ferrous coins can have similar readings. The pin point feature helps track down the main signal as long as there aren't multiple buried objects. Theres more beer caps and ring-pulls etc out there than other stuff. Im sure with more practise I can get a better feel of what may be in the ground but it is an issue. Still its fun but perhaps a cheaper model should be your first start.

Good, but not great
Having purchased this? I used it along side my friend's cheap £70 detector. They pretty much picked up the exact same things. This had a bit more depth and clarity, but no P-Tab indicator other than the scale, which falls right next to gold. I was expecting a few more bells and whistles and kinda wish I spent a bit more on a better one. It's certainly good for novices, but my friend has just bought its main competitor; the Nokta Makro Simplex, which is actually about £100 cheaper, and that seems to be a bit better. It was only after having purchased that I read a lot of reviews from pepple saying they'd pick the simplex over this. Not much in it and definitely not a bad purchase, but in hindsight I'd probably have bought the Simplex or spent more.
