Turns glass into a mirror - magic!
This is great! I had some old windows from house renovation and have now turned them into mirrors for inside the house. You spray the paint on the back of the window and it turns it into a mirror. Make sure you really clean the glass first - first one I did I didn't get it super clean and there were some streaks but looks like it's antiqued glass/ mercury glass. Happy with the result - took about 2 x cans per window.

Magic stuff
This stuff is amazing! Just don't spray the outside. I mean, you can, and it will look nice and silvery, just not mirrored. It is clearly stated you must spray the INSIDE of the item, or the back side if it is flat glass sheet, but I see so many reviews moaning it doesn't work when they used it wrong. Read the instructions peeps! I'm using it to make dollshouse mirrors out of an old bit of broken glass picture frame and it does look exactly as a mirror should, reflective!

Vintage effect mirror
Not bad. I tried creating the mercury glass mirror effect as per rust-oleum's video on a popular video sharing website. I followed these steps: 1. Cleaned the glass with a glass cleaner. 2. Lightly sprayed the glass with a solution of a third vinegar and two thirds water. 3. Sprayed a coat of the mirror paint. 4. Gently dabbed away some of the paint with some kitchen towel. 5. Repeated steps 2-4. 6. Sprayed with about 5 more coats of mirror paint, no dabbing. (they continue dabbing in the video) 7. Sprayed with some black paint. I had a couple of problems. When dabbing I made a few sideways movements so there are some wipe marks which I then couldn't get rid of though they did reduce with further coats. A fly landed on the black paint and removing that caused a hole which I then had to fix and this got worse before it got better as a big patch of paint ended up coming off and had to be reapplied. I can clearly see where this was though not as badly as I first feared. The mirror paint dries really quickly. You can see it drying, going from matt to glossy as it dries in about a minute or so, so it can be resprayed very quickly. It does smell but no worse than other spray paints. I'm reasonably happy with the end result. It isn't as clear as a proper mirror and it looks quite dirty and bitty as though the glass wasn't clean when I started. It was spotlessly clean though. I was going for a vintage look and it is a bit like the mirrors you see in stately homes that are really old and just not as reflective as modern mirrors. You can see the flowers reflected well enough in the end result, and I've zoomed in to show the dirty, bitty effect.

Good on glass, not good on wood.
I have used this product twice: once to paint three large rough-textured glass baubles by Nkuku, and once to paint plain maple/beech wood beads. It worked very well on the baubles, not so well on the wood. The baubles were a transparent turquoise and I wanted an opaque silver mirror finish. I taped up their hanging loops and pegged them onto an outdoor washing line to spray them. One coat made them silver, two coats made them opaque and shiny, and three coats gave them a lovely bright mirror finish. On the smoother parts of the glass, there was a true reflective mirror effect. The paint dried very quickly, covered the baubles evenly, and left an impressive tight finish, even when I sprayed too much and there was some run-off/dripping, it still dried evenly. There was no colour transfer at all after they dried. I wasn't using it to create a perfect flat mirror, so I can't testify as to how well it functions for that purpose. The wooden beads required 7-8 coats in order to leave a solid silver finish. The colour transfers terribly, even days after air-drying thoroughly. It doesn't weather the lightest scratch or scrape. In fairness, the product isn't designed for wood, but I'm just confirming their diagnosis! Two final notes: 1. The can drips a bit, so use it over newspaper or similar. 2. The paint gets all over your skin if you're not covered up properly when using it, and on my fair skin it was totally invisible until I washed it off, so I didn't know it had happened until hours later. Be very careful to cover up and wear suitable goggles/mask.

Works
Used to covers badly flaked areas in vintage mirror. Takes the eye away so you do not notice. You do need to be very well ventilated, I would suggest you do not do it inside where you live. Very strong. Very good product would buy again.

It worked for or me
The photo is of the back of an old mirror for the bathroom - completely flaked in parts dropping onto the sink. So I thought it patch it with this and first coat and the plain is mirrored as you see in the photo. I will give two more coats, but at least it's now mirrored even if it's not perfect. If you take time and cut off the backing in straight lines then I'm sure it would be better

Rust Oleum Mirror Effect Does Not Work
I had scratched my mirror when trying to hang it up and after doing some research, I found that Rust Oleum was getting positive reviews. I decided to purchase a spray can to attempt to fix the scratch. but after cleaning and applying 5 coats of Rust Oleum Mirror Effect spray, the scratch is now darker than it was originally. So, i decided to check the spray by spraying a standard glass tumbler and after 5 coats, there is a poor mottled effect silvering, but it is still see through and NOT mirror effect. I am very unimpressed with this product and would not recommend purchasing it again. It could be that I had a 'bad can' but I do not have any confidence in this product and will instead take my mirror to a repair shop. Ray

Mirror effect indeed!
Absolutely fantastic spray paint! It does require 4-5 thin coats but the paint dries right before your eyes and I find it fascinating. Great for a quick project and the result is fantastic! It smells quite a bit though so do it outside if there is no wind or in the big room with open windows. Quick delivery too.
