Still The Best Smartphone!
This is the Best Smartphone on the Market. If you ignore the stigma with Blackberrys and just take a look at what this phone offers you, I struggle to see a better phone on the market. All my friends keep saying I am stubborn for still using a blackberry. I told them I am technical when it comes to phones and I am not an apple die hard fan that would buy anything apple even if they came out with itoilet or iflush. Apple fans will buy it, because you can now flush your toilet from your phone. I agree that the traditional blackberrys have an issue. The ones with the blackberry Operating System. I don't like 'those' blackberrys' but the Priv is the Perfect phone! 4 reasons why it is better than apple and samsung 1. It has the security of a blackberry and also has the android operating system. 2. In addition it has the traditional qwerty keyboard and also a digital keyboard. so what more can you ask for? 3.The most important feature of this phone is that it hardly breaks! All my friends with samsung and apple phones keep complaining about the screen cracking e.t.c This is a solid phone especially if you buy the outer shell casing. Unless you actually get a hammer and smash the phone this phone is indestructible. 4. because you have the qwerty keyboard, you can use the whole screen to view whatever you want while you type on the slide out keyboard. This is perfect for attachments, whatsapp, facebook. Unlike the other phones the digital keyboard takes up 30% of the screen. This dosent! You have the whole screen to view the content and type at the same time/ NO OTHER PHONE DOES THIS! This is an issue with all smartphones including this one. Be careful about the power socket. This is one area they can improve on. If you keep twisting the power cable to ensure your phone is on charge at some point in the future maybe 2 years, the internal socket may get disconnected from the motherboard. Don't twist and twist the cable to get a charge signal. rather get a proper charger that works with your phone. This is the same for any smart phone not just this one. I have all phones. andriod, apple and this phone and in my opinion the blackberry priv is the best. I am being objective and clear. This is one one of the reasons i think the brand should not be Priv. This is a typical Blackberry name where those at blackberry are thinking like engineers and not like creative marketers! this is where I think blackberry falls short. Why make a fantastic phone and call it Priv? For those techy people like myself I know it means privacy and to do with their security, but the general public wont get it. just use another name. I don't know something like. Blackberry SClass. Or Blackberry Nova. Or dont use blackberry at all, just call it something like SuperNova and then in small print by blackberry. Or maybe another name like 'Boss'. Start a new phone series and call it Boss. I am thinking and typing here. But something else not 'PRIV'! . Think about it you want to compete with Iphone, S7 then you have Priv? err does not sound right, Maybe iphone, S7, Boss (by blackberry) or Blackberry S Class. I am not blinded by the marketing of apple and samsung as I have all three and this is the best phone! I think I need to apply to the marketing department of blackberry and just come in with fresh eyes and tell them how to appeal more to general phone users like myself. And remember I have all three phones. If you are an apple fan with imac, ipad. then it is difficult to swtich, because you have seamless integration on all devices if that is your thing. If not, this is the phone for you. Samsung is just the same thing as the priv, but the priv is better. If I had to rate them. I would say iphone is like a VW Golf (easy to drive and the most sold car), Samsung is like a wannabe BMW(tries to be stylish but has some cool features) and a Priv is like a Mercedes S class(solid, absolute presitige with good security). The only different is that Mercedes do a better job at marketing their product!

Quaity phone, great security, excellent screen.
This is for Blackberry Priv It arrived one day early and out the box I felt it was Good quality and easy to set up, It is not as Blackberries of old but I think it is a good compromise and Blackberry have done a great job with this phone. I am not that technically experienced with android and this is my first phone using it.... I am just in the first couple of days so this is a quick first impression review. 1/ well packaged 2/ Phone feels of a quality build, 3/ It was straight forward to set up, I just followed the prompts and read the guides (loads of online tips "Crackberry forum") 4/ The set up included update to Android 6.1 and app updates No issues took about 10min's 5/ Came with just a few generic android apps and some good Blackberry apps so not overloaded with clutter . 6/ I so far have not experienced any heat issues, even when charging and updating at the same time (this was sorted with software updates) 7/ the Keyboard is becoming a joy to use now I'm getting the hang of it, in particular the tracking function. and the slid out is of a nice solid quality. and I haven't got particularly small fingers! 8/ I Like the BB Hub feature, the BB security, 9/ the screen is excellent, beautiful colours, the curved edges add to the aesthetics and offer a practical use. 10/ Camera seams good I'm happy. I will update after a couple of months use

Finally a perfect phone
Ever since seeing an article about BlackBerry Priv in a magazine, I knew I had to get it. I am not at all fond of the on-screen keyboards, so seeing an Android phone with a proper keyboard was like a dream come true. Got it a couple of days ago and spent the weekend playing around with it and so far very happy with everything. First of all, the keyboard. Though the keys are small, I find it very easy to use and make less typos than on Nokia E7 which has bigger keys. The keyboard has a backlight, so typing in the dark is not a problem. An unexpected bonus is that is also doubles up as a trackpad, so you can use it to scroll up, down and to the side without touching the screen, which I really like. The screen is gorgeous - the curved shape is beautiful and the colours are vivid. It's massive as well, and since the keyboard no longer needs to take up half of it, you can see even more. Blackberry DTEK measures the security level of the phone and gives you advice on how you can improve it, giving me peace of mind that my data is protected. The camera is very user-friendly - apart from tapping the screen to take a photo, you can also use the space bar on the keyboard as well as the volume buttons on the side of the phone. As for the battery life, I have disable notifications for most apps, switched on the battery saver and so far got through two nights and a day and a half on a single charge and there's 30% still left. That is with lots of browsing, taking pictures and updating about 20 apps, which it decided to prompt me to do on the second day. I do switch off data and WiFi when I'm not using it though. Cons? I am yet to find one...

Great phone, poor low light front camera
Summery: Good phone, great screen. Annoying it doesn't have a fingerprint scanner or fast way to unlock and has an average front camera. So its worth saying that I've been running an iPhone, one version or another for the last 7 years, before that was a Blackberry Bold 9700 and before that, lots of old smart and non smart phones. So this was my first Android. The Good: - Amazing screen - better than almost all other phones out there and with the Samsung style edge screen - Looks very professional - Comes with, but at an additional cost. A Dock and nice BlackBerry case (i dislike phone that don't have a dock) - The Blackberry software added is a nice touch and I think makes Android better - The back camera is good - The front camera is good in daylight - The Slide out keyboard is, once you get used to it great - but I bet only old Blackberry users will get this - The virtual BB keyboard is excellent! If I could I'd install it on any phone I was using The Bad: - No easy biometric unlock feature (fingers print). This got annoying as I had to type in my PIN every time i wanted to use the phone - The front facing camera is 2MP, now that doesn't have to mean its crap, but in low light it is. I use FaceTime a lot and the day I switched the feedback was that my old iPhone 5s camera was better (which is a 1.3 MP by the way, so not even 2). - Old USB micro port, not the new USB-C that most of the latest phones have - Supports fast charge, but doesn't come with the charger! Blackberry you cheapskate!! Conclusion: Quite frankly for £530 (which is its current price on Amazon) this isn't enough phone for the money. You get the phone and a basic slow charger. Nothing else. A sub par front camera and a lack of fingerprint scanner. I just think its too much money! It's also annoying that BB decided to remove wireless charging from the UK versions so we just won't get it! If this was £450 I wouldn't be so harsh on these points, but the Lumia 950 XL has everything this does, better cameras and wireless charging as well as fast charging of which they include the charger all for £450, oh minus the keyboard of course but it does also come with the newer 810 processor as well. My device turned out to be one that developed green interference in low light, but even then that camera spec it not great. I sent it back for a refund due to the fault. Despite my harsh comments I really enjoyed using this phone and it is a good one, but it isn't the best value for money. I'm still debating a replacement or just buying something else in any case I hope this review helps.

Problms from the Start
My wife has owned a Priv since they were first available. She likes it for two main reasons: firstly it has a good, 15 mexapixel camera, noticeably better than an iPhone camera; secondly it has a physical keyboard, which is great for her because, for an unknown reason, a virtual keyboard is unresponsive to her fingers. Personally I hate the thing, with its counter-intuitive, difficult method of operation, but to each her own taste. In time the battery on the 'phone began to lose its charge quickly, so a couple of months ago we purchased a new Priv via Amazon which, according to the vendor, was brand new and had never been out of its box. Incidentally it took several weeks to arrive because the first carrier decided that it was undeliverable to our address, though we never received an explanation as to why, and no-one else has ever found our address to be undeliverable. Eventually it arrived and we set it up, installing the apps that were on the old 'phone, and since then it's been nothing but trouble. It switches itself off at random intervals throughout the day, and when it's switched back on it takes 15 to 20 minutes to reboot; after the normal period of "triangle, square, circle" it spends an eternity showing the message, "Android is starting... Optimising app 1 of 1" and there seems to be nothing we can do to stop that. My wife has reverted to the old 'phone and intends to put up with its weak battery until March 2021 when a new model of Blackberry may be launched. I wish she'd buy a sensible 'phone instead - an iPhone or a Samsung - but it's a physical keyboard or nothing for her. Time was when Blackberrys were the bees knees but they're outdated rubbish now, I'm sorry to say.

Get what you pay for
Pros: it’s a good phone for the price Easy to use Good loud speaker Good camera Fairly fast performance for what it is Good for business use Good android system Cons: the phone over heats massively Keeps freezing once it gets warm The screen is loose Cheaply built Annoying curve on the screen ( my opinion) that scracts easy. Could be better but I guess it’s the first shot from blackberry for a while

What a surprise - a truly great phone!
Had mine for a week now - coming reluctantly from a Passport which I had for 3 years. That was my first Blackberry and it was truly great phone. I don't play many games, but loss of Apps such as Dropbox, LinkedIn, Evernote and imminently WhatsApp as well as increasing browser incompatibilities meant I had to move on. I was somewhat concerned about the priv with reports of sluggishness, build quality issues, heating up and poor battery. But finally when the price came down to £250 ish I bought one. Wow - it's been a great experience so far. Great build quality, no creaking, not heating, faster than the Passport and battery often lasting to 2 days. I don't use Facebook (a known battery hog) and turned off all Google data feeds and locations when I set it up. Still getting used to the smaller keyboard after the Passport - but getting there. The hub is good - maybe not quite as good as the Passport - but more Apps are supported by it. Camera is very good and overall operation is sick and nice to have the ecosystem of Apps. Highly recommended!

Best phone of 2015 / Early 2016, Buy it!
Absoloutely Amazing, As an avid mobile phone geek I have owned and used well over 30 various smartphones in the last two years, this year alone I've owned the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, the LG G4, Blackberry Leap, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, HTC One M9 & Huawei P8 to name a few and none of them come close to what the Blackberry Priv offers in a complete package, It has so many unique features which are not covered in the numerous reviews I had read and watched on the web, the build is superb and that includes the build quality, it has insane battery life, sounds great through both the speaker and included earphones, the display is crisp and colours appear natural, the camera is underrated by most reviews, it absolutely demolishes most of the competition especially for colour accuracy. Never have I picked up a phone and thought what was I missing but this gave me that feeling, after a update was installed everything got even better, even snappier and the camera operated far more quickly, If you are even considering this then dont hesitate, just buy it! The best phone of 2015 (In my opinion)
