Worth the money
Both of my kids loved playing with this. They had fun and keep using it. They easily spent over an hour playing with this when they got it. Comes with everything it listed. It is sturdy. Love how it came samples to start learning right away. It is easy to use and set up.

Good though not great starter microscope.
This is a good starter microscope for younger children. The LED light source can illuminate from underneath the stage for slides, or over the stage for larger opaque specimens. It's reasonably sturdy, and the optics are reasonably sharp for the price point. The accessories like prepared slides and bare slides for mounting your own specimens are a good introduction for budding scientists. Our seven year old granddaughter asks to use it when she visits and now insists on setting things up on her own. My only issue is that the focus mechanism is very stiff and does not work as smoothly as it should. As you gently try to turn the knob, it will stick and then suddenly jump, making it difficult to easily focus on the target. I'm actually a little surprised that this did not discourage my granddaughter from using it. However, it has been a big hit and I would buy it again.

CUTE LITTLE KIT!
My neighbors son loved this little science kit!! There's so much to look at and a nifty little learning style pamphlet and everything! Cute for the price and its well made. Don't expect a pro lense, it's just like a beginners kit to get the hang of using a bigger/ more professional set.

Awesome!
We have loved this microscope. We had it for 10 months before my 7yo accidentally broke it trying to force the stage up too far. This is 10 months of daily use by a 6/7 year old with ADHD who is super hard on his toys. He’s forgotten it outside, on the floor, left the light on for days and I’ve not had to replace the batteries. For a more gentle kid this thing might last forever, even though it feels really cheap. The focus is super easy. It’s just controlled by moving the stage up and down and it’s pretty easy to get it in focus. I’ve seen some reviews say it’s too sensitive and easy to knock out of focus. That wasn’t true for ours, and I intend to replace it for Christmas 2023 so I’ll update if our next one isn’t as good. I’ll forget if not so no news is good news lol. I got a bunch of prepared slides and he has spent hours looking at them and anything else he finds he can fit on the stage. Definitely worth the price for my little scientist.

Underwhelmed even for a kids microscope
I know that NAT GEO is basically selling me basically a crappy fisher price microscope. Now its around 40 dollars so i don't exactly expect greatness, but just completely underwhelmed. My daughter is 5. She like playing with the buttons and nobs, but other than that lost interest quickly. It includes a few premade slides that at any magnification didn't exactly blow her hair back, and the rocks ( they're minerals marie!) are cute but fall short. The focusing nob are clunky and not very precise, was even difficult for me to get many of the slides to look remotely interesting. For a microscope targeting young kids this is a miss for me. There are other kits that come with more for the same price and after using this for about 10 minutes we boxed it back up for return. So is it terrible? Not really. Will it hold then attention of a kid under 7? Not likely. It did come with blank slides so you can make your own, but there was something about the whole set that just felt cheap. And i get it, its a microscope for a child (any kid over 7 or 8 would like something a bit more advanced) that cost 40 bucks. But if it were me i would have included some fun little extras that didnt make you go, ok I guess thats it" after 5 or 10 minutes. so yeah, 3 out of 5. Don't expect much
