Starter Motor for Cub Cadet Compatible with Kohler 32-098-01 32-098-01S 32-098-03

I hope I don't have to come back here and drop stars if this thing craps out prematurely. For now, love it! This went on my 1 y/o Craftsman tractor's Kohler KT745 engine, replacing their 32-098-08-S starter (which had no business being there in the first place). The original starter sounded terrible from the beginning, and then finally died. I could see why, a 9-tooth starter doesn't match up perfectly with the engine's flywheel, whereas the 10-tooth 32-098-03-S does. Pics don't lie, check 'em out. I certainly won't miss that screeching metal sound from the flywheel grinding down that old 9-tooth starter.BTW, I was worried that this aftermarket p/n doesn't have an S, but it all fit fine.

update: the seller gave a partial refund (prorated) This unit lasted 2 months. the top cover and spring come out (lost), and can not use it. LARGE PAPER WEIGHT NOW. I changed the rating to 4 stars would have been 5 if a full refund.

This is a far superior starter than the original part. It spins the engine over with ease and without the grinding noise of the original starter. The replacement was about two pounds heavier and 5/8's of an inch longer. It was a fraction of the cost from the manufacturer.

This starter is made so cheaply that when the shaft engages the gear into the flywheel, the shaft deflects enough to create a bind and will no longer turn. Unbelievable. I have to use a wrench to hand crank the motor in reverse to unbind it and then try again. Very frustrating!!! I would not recommend buying this item.

This was an exact fit for my Cub Cadet 1050 riding mower. It only took 20 minutes to remove the old one and replace it with this new one.

I was too busy to fix it until this year and had a certified repair facility replace it. They stated everything was put together properly. It was just cheap parts.

Much cheaper than OEM part (60 vs 180). Works fine. It has 10 teeth where the original had only 9. Put it on anyway and it works like a champ. Time will tell if the tooth count is a problem.

Works great. Easy install. Bought as "used" but was NEW condition. Great deal.(No idea why review is asking for a rating for THUCKNESS and SHEERNESS ???)
