Toasty warm
I ordered the king size. It does not hang over the edges of the king size bed a lot. Of course the heat does not go all the way to the edges. The material is ok. But there is a sheet in between the blanket and other blankets on top of it. My husband likes his side on high. I think that is a bit warm. It does get hot. For me i like it on 2 or 3 and that is almost too hot. I wake up sweating. But it does the job. The controllers have a decent distance. However what I thought was my controller was actually my husbands. They have to sit on the floor because there is nothing to hook them onto the bet with. The regular plug in cord ok. I had to go under the bed and out the side to get to a plug in on the wall. It is a little expensive but we keep our house at 68. All in all I would recommend this blanket.

Is there a time limit in testing the heat control?
purchased the Sunbeam King size heat blanket.beautiful blue, very soft, great size. Found the dual control to be a bit cumbersome but got to work. What I have found there is nothing about how long to keep it turned on to test the heat controls. Turned it on high (there are 10 settings) in the beginning and let it heat up for like 4-5 hours not getting very hot. not getting a full setting when I set it on 7. Part of the blanket (my side) hat warm/hot spots. Otherwise like the comfort of the blanket. We live in Arizona (Phoenix/Glendale). Just want to know how long does it take to heat up.Do love Warranty and fact there is a phone # to call for questions.thank you.

Which controller will you get?
I scoured reviews of blanket after blanket and they were all the same including this one. Glowing reviews telling how they were the greatest thing on God’s green earth and negative reviews saying how they came apart, stopped heating, shriveled up or otherwise suffered some sort of untimely death. I decided to just pick the blanket with the simplest controller and this is the one I chose. There is a slight chemical odor when opening the package which I would have preferred to smell like strawberry ice cream, but it quickly dissipates. The blanket is thin and I’m fine with that. It means it will be a good summer blanket too. If you feel the blanket, you can feel the wires, but isn’t that the case with all electric blankets? It’s been the case with all electric blankets I have owned. I've had blankets where it felt like I was sleeping under a chain link fence. Somehow, I don’t notice the wires in this blanket when I go to bed, but of course I have a sheet between me and the blanket. There is no preheat feature, but I didn’t want one. Why would you need that. Just turn your blanket on and it heats up. This blanket gets very warm very fast. Admittedly, I didn’t go through and patiently try the different settings to see how much difference each setting would have, but I’m not looking for precision heat. I just crank it up to ten before going to bed and lower it to four or five when I go to bed and this system works for me. If you want to lose weight just leave it on ten all night. You'll wake up in a sweat and ten pounds lighter. If I had and issue it would be the controllers - two because I bought a queen. They are not exactly what I expected to get. One picture shows a little window in the dial with a number showing in the window. The controllers I got look the same minus the window. Instead the dial has an arrow painted on it which points to the numbers one through ten painted on the controller. A new picture, which I believe was added since I made my purchase, only shows up if you select the queen blanket in the mushroom color, (I really like the color), shows the controllers I got. All the other colors and sizes only show the controller with the window. Do the different size and color blankets actually have different controllers? Did I get old style controllers or a newer design? Are they eliminating the window to save three cents? Again, only the queen mushroom blanket shows the controller minus the window, but also shows the controller with the window. It in no way affects the operation of the blanket. I just don’t like ordering one thing and getting something that looks different. I like getting exactly what I ordered. If there had been completely different controllers I likely would have returned the blanket since the controller design is the reason I chose this blanket, but I can live without the little window.I really like that the controllers are so simple even though they are a little clunky sitting on the nightstand. I’ll likely end up fastening them down with Velcro or double stick tape or maybe hang them on hooks so the weight of the power cord isn’t able to pull them down to the floor. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of controllers out there made to properly sit and remain on your nightstand. Are you listening design engineers? With these controllers you just press a button to turn it on and twist the dial to the setting you want and your done. Very quickly the blanket is nice and toasty. I like being able to quickly twist that dial to the setting I want rather than having to press a button to cycle through the settings. The blanket will shut off automatically after ten hours or you can hit the button to turn it off.So far I’m pleased with the blanket. It’s simple to operate, provides good evenly distributed heat and there is only one electrical connection at the foot of the blanket. That electrical connection is at most only six inches from the foot of the blanket which means it’s out of the way and your feet aren’t feeling it. No doubt if it falls apart, stops heating or shrivels up it will be on the coldest night in the coming winter, but that’s what girlfriends are for. So far I’m warm and happy – in more ways than one.

Good blanket with a good warranty
I bought this because of the Sunbeam name and the fact that it came with a 5-year warranty and an actual phone number you can call if you have a problem. I've used the blanket for a week now, and it's performed well.If I had any complaints, it would be about the design of the remote:-- The 2 heavy duty electric wires coming out the top of it make the lightweight remote clumsy and unwieldy. If this was well designed, all the big electric wires would be under the bed, and the connection to the remote control would be in the form of a single, lightweight, low voltage wire.-- Like most electric blanket remotes, there is no LED that indicates whether the blanket is on or off. You have to look closely at the display in the daylight or push a button to light up the display at night to see if it's actually on or not.-- The display has a somewhat blinding and jarring back light when the blanket is on and a button is pushed.-- Some people might find the noise the buttons make when pressed a little on the loud side. But so far, my pushing them in the middle of the night has not awakened my spouse.-- The buttons on the remote are not backlit so you have to feel around in the dark to make sure you're pushing the one you want.-- The remote has no memory of what your settings were when you last used the blanket. It always powers on with a temperature setting of 6 and an auto-off setting of 8 hours. I'm usually happy with the temperature set between 1 and 3 so every time I turn the blanket on, I have to fuss with the buttons and turn down the heat.-- In general, the remote is boxy and bigger than it has to be but that's a relatively minor complaint.

One month in. Still great!
I was a little apprehensive because of the bad reviews. But I guess that’s just what happens. A certain percentage of all products don’t work.I got a good one. I have been using this blanket nightly for about a month. I have had no troubles with it at all. It has made my sleeping much more comfortable. And it’s environmentally sound compared to turning on lots of heat in your sleeping environment. In fact, mine runs off solar so it is very environmentally sound. The sun is heating me while I sleep at night. This product is working flawlessly for me.

Buy from Walmart! Return policy is 100% better!
Spent a bit of money on this for a Christmas gift for my wife. She has been using it every night since then and it's slowly losing the heat intensity. She started at 6 which was nice, and it heated up quickly too. Now it's on HI and takes 15-20 min to heat up and even then it feels like a 5. Inquired about returning it, and because it's been opened and used they want 20% back to restock it. Why would they restock it? It doesn't work! I just wanted an exchange but I guess that's out of the question. Of course it would be opened to determine if it doesn't work! Disappointed!

Unusable
If I can send this back I’d like to, it’s not come with a UK plug end, I think it might be a US plug end, there’s no adapters for it, therefore rendering it useless, which wasn’t made clear on purchase. Please take it back

Blanket ok. Service, Not so much.
The blanket was great, purchased in 2017. It stopped working about 6 months later. I called Sunbeam in October since the blanket was in warranty. They said they had nothing in stock they could replace it with and to call back in a month. I called in November, still nothing, call back in a month. Called in December, still nothing and it hasn't been 4 weeks, I said yes, it has been 6 weeks. "Oh we still have nothing. Call back in January." It is January in Canada, it's not tropical, I'd like my blanket replaced. There has been no effort to replace with a bigger/better model...just keep waiting. I get things happen with products, I have zero issue with that and that's not why the low star. The low review is for the length of time it has taken fro them to honour their warranty. Winter will be over and we will still have no functioning blanket.

Exceptional Value - Very Good Even on Low - Rated a Solid BUY
Exceptional Value, Be aware, you aren't going to get a Heavy, Thick, Plush blanket, but you are also not paying $200 or $300 either - at $57.00 for a Double Bed size Electric Blanket it is perfect. I bought one because my old one quite working. After receiving it and trying it for one night I ordered another for my spare room (that older one that room heated only the bottom 1 foot. It heats up quickly and on Low it is perfect to warm up the bed before sliding in or even on all night when it s really cold (I prefer a Cold room, but not a Cold Bed. Rated a Solid BUY
