WRC Generations Nintendo Switch

Good game, but it requires precision. I recommend starting with Need for Speed

Other people have gone into detail on the floaty controls and whining about the gameplay issues, but I’ve come to the conclusion that they’re all wrong. My oldest son has learned that precision is key to getting the most out of this game. Perhaps most people don’t get that it’s not an arcade racer. It’s not Sega Rally, and not the classic Colin McRae Rally games by Codemasters. It’s not Ridge Racer either! You don’t tightly squeeze down the gas trigger and whack the thumb stick from side to side, it’s not made like that. The trigger acts like a real gas pedal, and has travel. The more you push, the faster the engine revs. Too much and the wheels lose traction and you’ll crash. Same with the steering. They simulated about three and a half turns like a real car in the movement of the thumb stick. All the way left or right puts the wheels at a hard, car rolling angle at speed. Try it in a real car sometime! No, don’t. Perhaps it’s too much for those people who play games like Grand Turismo or Forza, since the steering and throttle controls only do about ten percent of reality on those games and they prevent you from turning or accelerating the car anywhere near realistically. That’s always been my complaint on those so called “simulators”. I’ve owned real versions of many of the cars they have in those games and can’t drive anywhere as insanely as I did in a real one. Unless it’s a big name licensing deal involved. The lucrative licensing deal money cars always drive and handle better than the ones that aren’t. Money is involved in how good a car drives in a videogame? You better believe it! Anyway, this was the last of the WRC games as the contract was ending and going to off to EA. Aka more money for the car brand manufacturers and WRC rights owners. Therefore, I think they probably didn’t care about catering to the demands of the rights holders and just made a great game. One last hurrah, so to speak, without restrictions of corporate demands and requirements by certain inflated car brand name egoes. It’s pretty good, hard to master, and a very good simulation. I know Electronic Arts, who swallowed up Codemasters and chewed them up, won’t be able to do a simulator of this quality, but don’t worry, they’ll make up for it with overpriced Hot wheels and clown car DLC and stuff.

Nice and enjoyable. A very good game.

It’s Christmas morning. We all woke and opened our gifts. Our son was so excited to open this game and begin playing! He opened the case and looked confused. It was empty!!! We purchased and empty case that was fully wrapped like a brand new game. Furious is an understatement.

My son is outgrowing the cartoonish racing games available for Switch. It was great to find this one - and at a very fair price! My son was so excited - particularly that delivery was next day. This Switch game has become the favorite in his collection. Highly recommended!

Last of the WRC games from KT Racing. Takes quite a bit of practice to get good, but very satisfying once you get the hang of it. Worth buying at any discount. Maybe no future WRC games on the Nintendo Switch. Good choice for WRC fans.

You can't drive the cars. They slide everywhere. Ridiculous. Don't buy.
