Excellent Filter For BMW Motorcycles
The K&N oil filter is heads and tails above the OEM filter for BMW motorcycles and eliminates the removal problems associated with the BMW OEM filters. The K&N filter can be easily removed and installed with simple tools anywhere including DIY changes on the road.BMW R1200 series hexhead, oilhead and camhead bikes have a recessed oil filter and narrow space around it. The OEM filter has an unusual wrench end shape that makes it difficult to remove without a special wrench. To make matters more complicated, most non-BMW shops do not have this wrench which makes it difficult for service on long trips on the road.I swear by the K&N filter and have them on all of my bikes.

No problems
Fits my 2016 BMW C650GT. Zero leaks and the engine runs happier. Do NOT use a wrench to tighten the filter when installing as the nut is only for taking it off. Hand-tighten only.

Fits BMW F800ST
These are my go-to filters for a 2009 BMW F800ST. This means they also fit the F800 and F800R. K&N makes quality filters, but my favorite part is the hex nut on the end that makes removal a breeze. Oh, and they're cheaper than OEM!

Perfect replacement for stock
Makes it much easier to swap when changing oil. The 1200gs is already hard to change but not with a filter with a way to use a wrench to remove it. Fit 2010 1200gs

NOT Compatible with BMW K1600 Bikes
K&N filter are great, but don't buy this for the BMW K1600 bikes, even though they are listed as compatible. The removal nut on the end of the filter hits the gear shift lever.

Makes removal much easier next time...
All's well with my install on a '19 K1600 GA. I'm not sure if the body of the filter is taller than the Mahle/BMW original, probably isn't, but the top of the hex sure is. On my bike it's about 3/16" inboard of the shifter arm once installed. I'm not worried, will buy the same part again next year. The only challenge doing your own K1600 oil change is finding that silly upper/internal drain that's inside the hole of the main drain plug, if you haven't done it before, find one of the YouTube videos. My only real beef is that this baby cost about double the Mahle. All the best!
