This worked great and arrived quickly. I needed this adapter to connect my laptop to an old monitor with VGA input only. This fit the bill perfectly. I recommend it.

I could not get this device working with the hdmi out port on my Macbook Pro. I believe this may have to do with the Macbook's built in display outputting a native resolution greater than 1920 x 1080 (this device is said to support up to 1920 x 1080 resolution).I tried a couple of work-arounds to get it to work...1. I tried using display scaling in system preferences to scale down the resolution before plugging in the device. This didn't work. After a bit of research I see that scaling down the resolution in the display settings does not actually change the resolution of the screen, it just increases the size of the text. You can tell this because your dock will not change sizes when using this display scaling.2. I tried hooking up a second monitor using a display port adapter, and then unchecked 'mirror displays' in the display settings. This allows each monitor to have its own independent desktop space and screen-resolution. I was hoping doing this first would allow me to hook up this vga/hdmi adapter to a 3rd monitor and have it output 1080p to that screen. However this did not work either.Notes: When you plug this adapter the built in retina screen flashes on and off as it is trying to recognize the monitor connected to the vga/hdmi adapter. For a brief moment you will see the Macbook actually detecting the monitor plugged into the adapter, but it will quickly disconnect and the recognized monitor will disappear from the display settings. I could never get it to stay connected and stop flashing the display on and off.The device does work on my Windows laptop (running Windows 10) without any issues. My Windows laptop's built in display has a resolution of 1366x768 (or something like that) and this device works with this resolution when a second monitor is plugged in. As soon as the device is plugged in, it is detected and the external display works as expected.I am giving this a positive review because the device does work as described. I believe that the Macbook issue I had is because it is beyond the scope of what this device is said to do. The seller may want to add notes to the description saying that this will not work with Macbooks that have a native resolution higher than 1920 x 1080.As far as the build quality of this device, it is very nice. I would say it feels just as solid and sturdy as the official Apple brad display port adapters I have for VGA and DVI.

Adapter that has allowed us to save valuable time and money to continue on when things are changing. Perfect item for the need.

If it works, it works. A computer GEEK friend told me he had never had one of these fail. Well mine failed and we we chasing our tails blaming it on the computer; even went so far as to send it back to HP. They ran it for three hours with no issues and shipped back to Best Buy. The guy at Best Buy hooked it up and it lit up their monitor in short order, so I took it home. At home I hooked it all up including my adapter. Obviously the adapter was the problem. Bought the two pack above, opened and installed one and I was back and business. I stashed the other one, just in case the adapter that never fails chose to fail. Of it did I had a second one to plug in. Could have saved two weeks of frustration and down time if this item had gotten tested along with the computer. So, if you get a uninvited black screen and it tell you it's going to sleep, check the adapter. Everthing worked fine with wife's computer that didn't require an adapter.

This is an inexpensive and easy way to connect a VGA monitor to an HDMI port. We just moved and I couldn't find my existing converter cables. I wanted an inexpensive way to add my VGA monitor to my computer for a second display. This proved to be an easy way to accomplish this. Nothing fancy, just a straight forward converter that works well.
