Unscrew the top part to put in peppercorns.

How do you open to refill?

Unscrew the silver knob on the top. Then the salt part is open, and you can re-fill it. If you need to re-fill the pepper, then dump the salt out and then grab the top part (which would normally contain salt) pull it off. You might have to pull hard.
