Q: Does the portable monitor need to be plugged into a power outlet to work or can I just be plugged into a computer?

HI Diamond, The monitor allows for two kinds of input: using mini HDMI, or using USB-C. If you use HDMI for your video source then you'll also need to have the (supplied) power supply plugged in - a total of two leads. If you use the USB-C input with the cable provided then you don't need the supplied power outlet, as USB-C delivers both the video signal and the power in a single cable. Cheers.

Q: Can I use this with an iPhone in portrait mode?

Do not have an iPhone but tried connecting with an iPad. While I can rotate the AYY portable monitor to portrait mode, there no option on the iPad to change the AYY display to portrait mode. The iPad always display the content in landscape mode, even if I use screen mirroring and turn the iPad in portrait mode. From Apple Web Site support, iOs and iPad OS do not seem to currently support changing the orientation of an external display. This is not specific to that monitor, every external monitor should have the same restriction.

Q: Does it work with Dell tower that does not have Type c don’t have hdmi only has usb and display cable port

Just get a display to hdmi adapter.
