I GENIETTI JAR Opener, Silver

My parents had something similar when I was a kid. It worked much better the those flimsy plastic circles. Welll, I should have kept it but I didnt. When this one came available I bought it, it works the same way and the quality is just as good. no problme opening jars. It's a good buy.

This device basically just gnaws and cuts the lids off of jars, at least wide mouth mason jars. I had this crazy idea that I could use this to take a lid off, then use that same lid to put the pickle jar back in the fridge but the lids were destroyed. Also the device feels weakly constructed for the amount of force you might use to open a jar but it also has these sharp teeth on it (how the lids get destroyed) so it seems like a major kitchen related trip to the ER just waiting to happen.

doesn't do the job. Tried using it on small bottle of soda water. No luck. Awkward to use.

This is not the product I ordered. What we got is more like the "Kichwit Arthritis Jar Opener."However, what we got works OK, so we decided to keep what we got.

Works fine though why the design was changed from the old "Gilhoolie" is beyond me. That was there simplest and best jar opener ever.

April 2016: This is the best jar opener. I tried 13 different designs. This is the most versatile for all jar types and sizes, and the easiest to use for any size hands, or even arthritic hands.Update, Sept 2016: although this is still the best jar-opener design, the inside grasping triangle broke after less than 5 months. It was only used to open baby food jars. My old one is over 65 years old, and still works. I'm going to buy another one, though, because it is still the best type by far. I'll try another manufacturer, perhaps the construction quality will be better.

This is the one to buy. It's strong and grips the lid with it's rounded teeth so that the lid is still usable. It works on a ratchet system so that it doesn't slip and all one has to do is squeeze and turn. It will open a lid up to 5 inches in diameter. It's compact design allows me to hang it with my other constantly used utensils. No more using any pliers from my tool chests.

When you order this you get a totally different opener. We reordered and got the wrong one twice.
