Tipton Bore Guides with 3-4 Muzzle Guides, Aluminum Tube, for Rod Alignment, Cleaning, and Gunsmithing

I bought this bore guide to protect the throat and bore of my 7mm Rem Mag rifles. The bore guide comes with 3 different sized universal tips requiring you to find the one that fits your rifle the best. The brass handle is screwed into a plastic ring that can move forward and back when the brass handle is loosened up. Once you get the bore guide set in place just slide the handle forward, turn it down into the bolt lock, and tighten the brass handle (acts as a set screw). The rear opening of the bore guide allows you to start a brush or patch before applying solvent or oil through the open window on the end. This is a nice feature to keep you from making a mess moving from a solvent bottle to the bore guide and also keeps you from dripping all over the action when you're inserting a brush. So far so good on the quality of this product. I figure for the price if I only get 3-5 years worth of use out of it then it has more than paid for itself and I will definitely buy another. The fact that it will protect the throat and bore of my rifles adds that much more value to this product. Pros: ease of use, value, does what it's supposed to do, covers a wide range of bolt action rifles

So, I have the Dewey, but decided to try this one. Observations so far: - Construction: Steel and plastic. We'll see how the plastic holds up over time. - Price: Very competitive, but it's cheaper for a reason. Some parts are plastic. - Versatility: Universal, which is VERY nice. One guide rules them all!😁 - Install/Use: This is where it gets a little tricky. They give you an alignment barrel for AR and bolt, but you might have to flip the bolt action barrel around to get it to work with your action's design. I had to flip it around to get the guide's stem to position correctly in the spot where my bolt handle goes. The opening for adding your bore cleaner is a nice size! Outside of the plastic parts, this is a great option. Still gets five stars from me and I would recommend it.

This doesn't work for all 22 lr rifles. Will not fit the New Bergara BMR 22 lr bolt action. Had to get a custom made one for it. But it works well for the AR 15 Platform rifles.

It works as advertised

when taking your gun cleaning to the next level you will need a bore guide. this prevents your cleaning rod and jag from chipping and scoring the lead into the rifling and the crown as you leave the rifling. this has worked with ar15s and various bolt guns. the chamber sleeves fit tightly into the chamber and allow me to clean my bores without spilling the solvent all over the stock action and trigger group. because of this it also helps keep the odor down form the hoppes i use. i love the smell but the wife and kids dont. this has helped keep it contained. the boreguide uses a set screw to hold the unit in place and from my experience it works great. the housing is made from anodized aluminum and uses a solvent save rubber as a chamber seal. i would buy this again as it works great

I have been using this guide since 2017. on multiple calibers. Works great without any issues. It locks in the action just fine and I have not noticed any plastic pieces and paint flakes as others have so described. Other than more rigidity and caliber and action size specific, I don't know what a higher dollar value bore guide brings to the table. Buy with confidence and put it to use. Depending on use and how how much it is used, I can see the need for replacing the chamber fitting plastic piece to be replaced as it may wear out. Be good and shoot straight.

I am able to give this product 5 stars for two reasons; 1) I knew what the basic bore guide kit looked like before ordering, 2) I have used one before and understand the correct way to use it. This bore guide is good for pretty much any rifle from 17 up to 460 and can save your finish on your rifle whether it is a highly polished walnut stock or a tactical paintjob on your synthetic stock or AR platform rifle. It will work on your rifle if you understand how to use it. Lots of people claim it doesn't becuase of improper use. The only reason that it won't work is if the bolt is smaller than 0.695" in diameter. I have written instructions on proper use below if you need it. Slip on the bolt action collar, or the large AR-15 collar depening on your application, then slip the bore guide tip that best fits your barrel/chamber. To know what fits best just take the cleaning rod and attach a barrel brush. If it slides through the guide without too much excess space, you have the right bore guide tip. Slide the guide in the rifle. For bolt guns, slighty screw in the brass handle in the bolt guide, slide the handle into the bolt handle cut out on the rifle and screw in tight making sure the cut out for solvent is up. It is now locked in place and ready to use. For AR's, slide the collar further down so the hole in the collar is visible through the ejection port. Screw in the handle so that it just touches the back of ejection port.

I tried using this guide with my Remington 512p and my Winchester 69a and the the tip of the guide was far too big to fit. My only other bolt-action is a Savage model 93R17 with a much larger bolt. It might accept this guide, but it wasn't worth it for me to test it, as I was hoping for a universal guide that would be universal with all of My rifles. My mistake and I have learned my lesson. That being said, I am giving it 3 stars because I'm sure it's a decent product if you have a gun that will accept it. However, I think Tipton should at least provide some sort of generalized list that lets people know which rifles this is and/or isn't compatible with, or simply that it won't fit most rimfire rifles unless you have a larger bolt. I knew it was a crapshoot when I ordered this guide, but one of the great things about Amazon is that you can take these risks and easily return a product if you aren't satisfied with it. For people who are in the same boat as I am, you will need a smaller guide that has the top half cut off in order to fit up against the breach. If you look up "Sinclair rimfire guides" you'll see just what I'm talking about. There are other manufacturers who make these types of guides, such as Possom Hollow and Dewey. I haven't used any yet so I can't say which are the best, but a simple Google search should help you find forums with discussions about which rimfire guide rods are good.

Having been a shooter most of my life I must have spent hundreds of hours ramming a cleaning rod into the barrel of my latest rifle, hoping I wasn’t causing too much damage to the chamber in the process. I liked to think I was quite good at it. My latest purchase however, was an expensive precision rifle and I thought I would try a bore guide, hence I ordered the Tipton universal. What a difference! It fitted perfectly into the Tikka T3x and cut the cleaning time in half. I always put at least 20 patches through, more if I am using copper solvent. This keeps all the mess out of the chamber and receiver and stops you having to bounce the jag around the chamber before it feeds into the barrel. A couple of things to bear in mind: This bore guide fitted perfectly into the receiver of the Tikka which in 6.5 Creedmoor. I thought it would also fit my Sako 85 which is .223 but the adjustable collar will not fit into the receiver, just too big. I thought OK I’ll just hold it in place, however I then found the cleaning rod was not long enough to push the jag out of the barrel. Not the end of the world, just a little annoying for a ‘universal’ guide. If you don’t use a bore guide, start using one now, right now! Just make sure it fits.

Works as it should, but if u only have the brass rods in cleaning kit and have over a 22 inch barrel the rods will not go to the end of the barrel with this bore guide, so u either have to buy a better cleaning one piece rod or buy a small kit with the brass rods to make urs longer. Works great using Jags as what the bore guide is made for.
