Great soldering station at a good value
This thing is awesome. I used to have a Weller soldering station back about 20 years ago. I wish I had never gotten rid of it. But this thing heats up fast, has a digital temperature control and has not failed me yet. Iโve held off on leaving a review until I could give it a good workout.

Good little Iron. Good Temperature Control
I purchased this 70w Weller soldering iron station after my 10-year-old [at least] 40-watt Weller iron quit... (after I inadvertently left it on over night!). This little iron heats very quickly, and holds a very even temperature once it's hot. I'm not sure that the digital temperature readout is particularly accurate (although there is a "temperature offset" feature in the setup menu, to calibrate it/make it more accurate, but I haven't messed with that yet). I have it set to display "750ยฐF", but I don't think it's really that hot... In any case, it really doesn't matter [to me], because I just set it to a high enough value to thoroughly & quickly melt my 60/40 (or 63/37) electronics solder, but not so hot as to oxidize the tip... regardless of the "reading". I'm using it primarily for electronics work (I repair/rebuild radio amplifiers), and it works very well for that, for the last 10 days or so. The handle is comfortable to grip and easy to use, and the slim shape of the heating element makes it nice getting into tight spots. The "Sleep" feature is nice too, so that the unit basically shuts-down (goes to low heat) after several minutes, and you can set the delay time in the menu. Also, the display reads in either F or C (selectable in the menu). The tips for this model are readily available (I already had a bag of 'aftermarket' replacements), but since the temperature is pretty well regulated, the tip should last a long time (my old iron was unregulated and would get quite hot, which burned-up the tips fairly quickly). So far I'm happy with this unit. It has worked perfectly right out of the box... no issues whatsoever. I guess time will tell, though... At this point, I'd recommend it.

Get More Detailed in Soldering
Love almost everything about this unit. I've used 40W Japanese soldering irons for a long time. The adjustability on this is a gamechanger, much easier to avoid damaging traces & nearby plastic. Power & controllability. Autoshutoff is a much appreciated safety feature. It heats up super fast so really not much of an inconvenience when compared to starting a fire. The sponge is thick when watered up. The spring shaped holder is hard to insert & take out on mine - good thing. It looks like a toy but I don't care. The iron's lead isn't that long, could be an issue depending on your work environment. Doesn't come with a case, I use an HF metal ammo box.

This is a terrible product with poor design and materials.
Weller used to be high quality. This is the worst piece of crap I've purchased in a long time. I've spent thousands of hours using soldering irons. I've always purchased Weller because they produced high quality and reliable equipment. This the last Weller product I will ever buy. The base is really light and unless you attache weights or magnets to it, it will be sliding all over the place. The cord is stiff which limits moving the iron around and drags the base all over the place. After a few hours of soldering, the tip oxidized and cleaning either didn't work or removed a very thin coating. In any case, the tip would no longer wet. I attempted to replace the tip, but it was frozen and when I applied enough torque to free the tip, it broke off threads. The parts I would need to repair the station don't seem to be available. I'm not too upset about that since if I did repair it, I would just have a repaired piece of crap. It is poorly made out of poor materials. Weller should be ashamed.

Perfect
Needed a new soldering iron and this one fit my needs perfectly. Once again Home Depot didnโt have the product I wanted.

IP70 tip family is limited
Only buy if all you need is the included tip sizes, which are aimed towards finer work. This takes IP70 tips which have fewer options. The price is great for what you get though, 3 different included tips is better than their more expensive stations. It's just unfortunate that there's only one size bigger, and it only comes in expensive 5-packs.

Hard to find tips that fit this iron.
This unit has a very stiff cord attaching the iron to the station. Hopefully, it will soften up with some use. The other issue I had with this unit is that I wanted a screwdriver tip for it, and Amazon does not sell a screwdriver tip that fits this iron. I reached out to Weller customer service and got a link to the correct sized tip. I had to buy a 5 pack of them, and spent almost as much money as I spent on this station buying the tips. Functions correctly, and heats up fast.

Decent starter iron
Quick ramp up time with precise temp control. A little bit lightweight for the base so if you don't have your cable straightened put before working, you are prone to dragging it around the table.

Works as it should, cable can be an issue.
Yeah I have used it a few times and it seems to work quite well. I used to have a Weller 25 years ago and that had some weight to it (I guess it had a huge transformer in it) this one is very light. I agree with some other comments about the soldering irons cable is very stiff and you have to be careful not to burn it. I bought this over the cheaper Chinese (although I'm sure it's made in China) hoping Weller would have better quality control standards.
