Art Oracles: Creative & Life Inspiration from Great Artists

Neither a tarot deck nor a tribute to, nor a mockery of, them, this most unusual offering takes on the form thereof to draw and teach lessons from the careers of notable artists from Da Vinci to the present. Rather than citing actual quotables from these artists, Ms. Tylevich synthesizes her own pithy aphorisms consonant with her take on their lives and works . Accompanying these beautiful and beautifully-produced cards is a most interesting booklet in which she gives her précis accounts of the artists and their lives, not as dry encyclopaedia snippets, but in wildly colorful, opinionated, agenda-laden salvos that recall early (Bob) Dylan verse. Although rooted in art history, this is really fully the wonderful and unique work of Ms. Tylevitch, a clearly fascinating artistic intellect whom I should check out further. I was directed to this most unusual objet d'art by the Seville guitarist, author, and artist Paola Hermosín.

I studied art history in college and I'm a fan of tarot/oracle decks (mainly for the art and symbolism- I love all the new indie decks...) so I couldn't resist picking up the Art Oracles. I wan't disappointed- these are fascinating and so interesting! They don't follow any traditional tarot/oracle system, but if you know enough about tarot you can kind of make some connections. The artwork is quirky and interesting (not beautiful, but compelling) and includes not only an image of the person the card depicts but also a few symbols and images pertaining to their work- so you can actually use these cards if you read intuitively. The deck also comes with a little white book with information on each of the artists. Each card has three little blurbs on it- pithy insights on how to approach work, life, and creativity in the spirit of the artist depicted. One thing I liked about this deck was that it featured a few artists I was not aware of, so it became like a little research project to figure out what the saying on the car might be referring to. So it definitely inspired me! I can't recommend these enough- they are clever and fun, as well as actually being very insightful.

I love the illustration and the writing! Seriously amazing and very inspirational+helpful to creative souls. You guys can see the artwork in the review section so I don't need to tell you how beautiful and cute and original this deck is but...since you don't know about the quality... Lemme tell you: The cards are very thick and feel good to touch! The cards also come in a sturdy high quality box :D To the Author and Illustrator: Please team up again and make a philosophy/literature one featuring inspirational giants such as Goethe, Nietzsche, Marcel Proust, Tolstoy, Stefan Zweig and Kafka just to name a few. Maybe throw Lao Tzu in the mix too :D That would make many people happy I think :D

a fun little present. But I guess you look at it once and then put it away. Nothing deep, just tongue in cheek. The little booklet talking shortly about the artists is written well. I enjoyed that more than the cards. It's maybe a nice starting point to explore new artists. Don't expect life advice (which I didn't) - it's light and fun. I'm not too crazy about the artwork of the cards. But in general nice box, good size cards, good print, so nothing to complain.

SO cool! Perfect for that person who has that niche mixture of both a love for art history and energy work and divination practices. This is not a practical deck for everyone, but for the person it resonates with it is perfect. For me I feel like the personality of the artist really informs the message, so the reading made sense to me. I think it may be tough to read for others, but who knows until I try. Women are represented, hallelujah for that. As far as the cards themselves they are really, really nice. The cardstock is smooth and kind of matte finished so they shuffle beautifully and it doesn't look like they'll weather fast. The art represented is great and funny at times, perfect representations of the personas behind the creations. The box is gorgeous, though mine was a little dented on the bottom. I decided to keep it anyway since the cards were fine, but I think this product could benefit from shrink wrap or something as only the cards are wrapped and the box lid is white. The booklet is brief but helpful as it gives blurbs of the artists lives. Less a meaning guide for the cards. Definitely for type b people who use oracles with intuition more so than referencing the booklets. All in all a great price for a deck that fits right into my collection.

I love art so I had to get these cards...Love these cards...This deck feature all the major artist of all time, it comes with a quirky guide book, and each colorful artist card provides wisdom for Life, Work and Inspiration. But if you look at them long enough you might get a more inspired message by channeling William Blake, Georgia O'Keeffe or Da Vinci! It's truly an eclectic bunch with cards that highlight the artist's work style too

This is a great Deck! The artists are lovely. The cards are nice, they shuffle nicely, including ripple shuffle. The guidebook is 27 pages long, but don't let it fool you, it has great information about each artist & you get to know them well. There are 50 cards in the deck. I ordered mine used but there were no problems, great energy. I really like this deck.

I just wish there was a guide for layouts or like more specific instructions on how to use them. I mean of course if you are looking at these you are probably into reading oracles and tarot anyways but that one extra thing would have been nice. These are very nicely done and the artwork is super cool. It would be a great gift for that weird mystic art-history major (aka me) if you are able to resist the urge to open them and use them for yourself. In that case I recommend you just order two decks right now, because you are going to want to keep one.

These are high quality cards with very beautiful illustrations and design. They are really fun. I love to use these cards to help with the artist block for inspiration. Great to shuffle and randomly pick out an artist or two and read about their style and artistic influence.

Adoro questo mazzo! Le carte riportano frasi chiave legate ai più famosi artisti di tutti i tempi, di diverse discipline: pittori, fotografi, architetti....come William Blake, Diane Arbus, Tiziano, Rem Koolhaas....Non mi aspettavo fosse così bello: le frasi riportate in ogni carta sono molto evocative, sono inviti a vivere come hanno fatto i grandi personaggi in esse ritratti. Stra-consigliato, anche come regalo per amanti dell'arte, e non necessariamente di carte oracolo.

Amazing deck of cards, I learned a lot about these artists and arranged "fake tarot" type of readings with friends, quick delivery. I fully recommend this deck.

Je les imaginais beaucoup plus petites, alors qu'en fait elles ont une taille parfaite, plus grandes qu'un jeu de cartes traditionnel et même un peu plus larges que mon jeu de tarot. De très bonne qualité, elles sont solides et la boite est superbe également ! Vraiment ravie, je les utiliserai pour peindre différemment.

This oracle cards are so beautiful. The pictures are great and lovely. It's useful for those who want to have some advice or guidance about life. You can also learn some famous people in the world!
