I use this workbook in my classroom for our daily math practice. The format provides a great way to maintain daily facts review and it ensures that you incorporate word problems regularly. Each page provides ten problems of work in one particular area, with a small reminder of the process involved. The pages are not too 'busy' or overwhelming in visual presentation. Each page also begins with a review of concepts taught previously, so that ongoing practice is incorporated. Of course, separate instruction, hands-on learning and other formats of work are essentail for rounding out the curriculum, but this is an easy format to follow for a year's focus of basic math curricula. This will be my second year using the book, and I have yet to try to 'new' edition. The older edition did have a few mistakes with problems given more than once on a page every now and then and the answer key sometimes provided wrong answers, but the students loved finding these errors! We have found as a class that the pages often take more than 20 minutes to complete. 30 minutes may be more accurate.

I was concerned that this product was going to be less than I expected because of all the reviews, which I read, that said, "5 star review requested." Yet, I ordered it anyway, due to the fact that everything I wanted was offered in the 3rd edition; page-by-page drills after video lesson tutorials provided for each page, an answer sheet, a glossary page, a listing of quick math facts, review in following chapters, testing, and an option to teach math in 20 minute intervals. I was looking for simple narrative explanations through a video educator, and drills to test one's understanding of basic math concepts, per page, per lesson. The 20 minute interval part was important to me as I understand that the mind stops paying attention between15 to 20 minutes if without a break. It was also important to me that the math subjects taught were appropriate for my child's age and grade, and therefore productive. We worked a few lessons the day the book arrived with no problem in any of the aforementioned expectations. Day Two: We jumped around between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 in preparation for the lessons next week in class. It was easy to pick a subject in the book to practice without having to follow one lesson directly into the other; although that is only because we are bouncing between this workbook and the school textbook, and some topics have been covered in school.

This is exactly what I was looking for for my daughter to practice with over the summer before she starts 4th grade. I wanted the basic skills: multiplication, division, and plenty of practice, which is what it has! It also has tons of other subjects like fractions and decimals, which I wanted as well, but had resigned myself to have to buy separate workbooks for, until I found this book. In the past, I've had a hard time because every book I found contains only a handful of practice problems for each skill, with most of the book's space taken up with huge pictures and graphics that are unnecessary. The only thing I would change about this book is to add a short explanation at the beginning about how to do the spiral exercises that appear on each page. (I called the number on the book's website, and the author answered, and explained that you're supposed to put a number inside the circle and add or multiply it by all the other numbers on the spokes of the circle.) Another feature that makes this book excellent is that each page contains a few problems of mixed type for review, which is essential for retention.

Perfect for a Summer Refresh! I love this math workbook! The lessons are easy to follow and build up gradually, so it never feels overwhelming. It’s been a great refresher over the summer, and I actually enjoy using it. I always hated math so it’s nice to work through it at my own pace. There’s a full answer key in the back, which makes it easy to check your work and track progress.

Essentially a workbook and little else. Was hoping for more instruction or explanation of how to do the problems rather than just presenting worksheets.

I took a leap of faith with this book as there were no other reviews to go by. I am glad I did. My daughter is good at maths but has mild dyslexia and finds the jumbled up text, too small print and layouts of many of the U.K. Standard maths books of big publishers confusing. This is so refreshing. The layout is first class; clear print, ordered and no silly pictures and jumbled up styles. The content is excellent with lovely small steps page by page to build confidence and a problem solving question at the end e page to stretch and test understanding. Really recommend. We are using this as a Year 3 to Year 4 book.

Great book

I am entering teachers college in Ontario in September. I needed a book to help remind me how to complete essential math problems because the province now requires teacher candidates to complete a math proficiency test to be certified. It has been a very long time since I have reviewed how to solve certain math problems and since starting this book, my confidence with math has increased significantly. The book is straightforward, easy to use, and the videos that accompany it are explained wonderfully. Thank you, Richard, for making Math fun and helping me to be better prepared for my future career! I recommend this book! the e-book is great (and affordable!)

I'm an adult with dyscalculia... trying to get my head around math. This book is helping me enormously. Sometimes I need to go on YouTube to fully understand some concepts but it is genuinely easy to follow.
