Exactly what I was looking for.
I finally found a sisal that I felt comfortable with using to re-wrap the scratching posts on our cat trees. Im not sure why, but if you look through reviews of sisal rope, many people complain of not feeling comfortable using the sisal they purchased for their pets, or for making crafts or furniture because it has a strong chemical smell similar to gasoline or kerosene! I experienced this too with other brands! I couldn't find any good quality sisal rope at nearby stores that didn't wreak of chemicals! Not only did SGT Knots rope NOT stink of chemicals, it has a strong natural sisal smell that our cats were immediately attracted to! Our one cat came over and stuck her head right in the bag hole right after I opened it, so she could check it out lol. Mind you, the smell isn't overbearing. Its not going to make your house smell like sisal, but rather is has a strong scent when you sniff it up close. The previous sisal that I replaced didn't really have a smell at all that I could detect. This could work really well if you're trying to train a cat to scratch on the post instead of on your furniture! We had this issue with one kitty whom is very picky about what surfaces he likes to scratch on, and he immediately went for the cat tree after wrapping it in this rope and he hasn't scratched on anything else since then!I'd also like to mention that the rope seems to be of fairly high quality and is twisted very professionally. Other ropes Ive seen have had alot more loose, brittle strands than this stuff!

1/4” is perfect for cat scratching post!
I purchased this rope to rewrap the posts on my cat’s Vesper scratching post. I purchased the 1/4” 600’ box. The size was just right for the scratching post and matched the size of the rope that was already on them (see photos - the original is darker than this rope). The rope came coiled up in a box, with a piece sticking out of the top and a note that said “start here” so I was able to just leave it in the box and pull from the center, which was perfect! The rope is very rough and kind of “splintery” but I had no issues and it didn’t stab me or anything, but I did feel the need to be careful. It did shed on the rug as I was wrapping but, it seemed to do fine. I hot glued it as I went and it worked perfectly. It does have a slight gasoline/mineral spirits smell to it. Not bad enough that I couldn’t finish my project or bad enough to give my a headache (and I’m pretty sensitive to things like this), but it was a little unpleasant. I have the posts outside airing out before I put the cat tree back together.Only time will tell if it will hold up and if my cats will like it (fingers crossed) but so far it has been exactly what I needed for this project.

Works for DIY scratching post
Great sisal rope! I used this to "repair" where my cat had scratched up our sofa. This rope, a hot glue gun, and a couple of hours later, we have a built in scratching post for the cat and a much less beat up looking sofa for the humans. The roap is durable and consistent in texture and thickness. It's a bit scratchy and "rustic", so I wouldn't recommend it for anything you'll be touching often. The cat loves it though!

Worked For My Purpose
I had to do a lot of improvising with this rope to repair a couple cat scratching posts. Thing is, the diameter I ordered was what I needed, and the diameter of the rope I received was off by a significant amount. Perhaps it a metric thing. Anyway, the rope seems to run larger in diameter than posted in the product listing, hence the 3-star rating. Recommend you order a size smaller than you need.I had to improvise my repairing of the cat paraphernalia because of the larger diameter. I did get it to work and that was the intent. It would have taken less time if the rope weren't fatter than I needed. If you haven't worked with this sort of rope before, do wear some thick gloves--I recommend plastic/latex like the yellow ones for dish washing. This sort of rope, and not just from this seller, has short, sharp pieces that stick out from the rope and can end up as slivers in your fingers. They hurt like hell, so protect your hands. This is natural for this rope type and it does not effect cats or end up in their paws.

Great rope, measure don’t underestimate lol
I got exactly what I was expecting, 100’ sisal rope, neatly coiled and in a bag. I didn’t smell anything as others mentioned but I wasn’t ready to use it until this morning so it got about 24 hours to air out anyway. I hot glued it tightly to a 32” tall, 5.5” square cat scratcher, it covered more than half but not quite 2/3. I wish I would’ve ordered two, it’s good quality rope and looks fantastic. Luckily I started from the top, my cat likes to stretch out tall when he uses it, my hubby finished off the bottom section with a piece of carpet we had leftover, our cat never scratches that low anyways and as luck would have it the carpeting was nearly the same color as the rope so it looks like it was purchased that way!

Only product I trust for my parrots!
I have no idea why there are some poor reviews. This is in no way treated! I included a pic of “untreated” twine from Walmart. As you can clearly see the top image is much, much darker from the oils they used on it. The bottom bulk pic is the SGT. It is very natural. I use it for all my bird toys. I also buy the SGT twine which I will also review. The only drawback to this twine is because it is chemical free, it doesn’t hold knots very well. I combat this by wetting it a little. Another drawback is if you have soft skin wear gloves, as it has some sharp little buggers on it and gives me blisters. Small price to pay when you have a cockatoo that can shred a wooden block in 2 minutes. This is durable and he has problems getting through the quarter inch. In fact, even the thin twine stands up to him for a little while if I double it. All and all, this is a great value, durable product, all natural, and is the ONLY product I will trust for my birds which are not only my heart, the are also my pocketbook as well.

Exceptional Quality
The order arrived very quickly, the Sisal rope appeared to be of excellent quality, did not have any chemical smell to it and is extremely Durable and fray resistant. We used this product to recover an old cat scratching post which our two cats had destroyed. We compared what was left on the scratching post to Sgt Knotts Sisal and the Sgt Knotts Sisal twine was clearly of a superior and even exceptional quality. We would definitely recommend this product and will purchase it again in future.

Great quality, natural, and beautiful.
Bought sisal from Sgt.Knots and used it to make a woven rush seat for my granddaughter. This chair was used by her grandfather when he was a child, so I refinished it, and learned how to make the woven seat with an on line tutorial.I am very happy with my purchase of the natural sisal chord. Now I am just waiting for my granddaughter to come visit and try her new chair!

Poor Product
Bought 2 lengths to use on the cottage deck Sept 2019 and by April 2020 it was turning black. Photos show what it looks like now. We had a new deck built last summer and the rope was used as part of the railing. The cottage is closed Oct to April so our builder did not check on it until April and found the rope was turning black. Not sure if it is mold or just poor product. Since it was not discovered until last month due the cottage being closed, it is past the return period. There is also a photo showing the new deck last fall with the rope in good shape.

safe for cats toxic no machine oil
This one didnt have the machine oil so it was safe for my cat. I ordered 1é4 100 feet. Ive only had it for one month and the strings are already showing wear but my one cat loves to scratch for pleasure so maybe its normal. Anyhow you can just assume if its light colored it hasnt been oiled up this one i researched and it was fine. there were cheaper if you dig but I wasnt willing to penny search :)

Great for cat posts
I bought this to re-sisal my cat's scratching posts with hot glue and it's worked out great. The rope feels clean and is easy to work with, no noticeable odor or any issues.
