I returned this broadcast spreader because the gears slipped. I have an old spreader that does the same, trying to find a replacement. I am seeking one with metal gears not plastic. This is a light duty, not sure it will spread heavy rock salt effectively for you.

Will it work for forage kochia seed that is smaller then alfalfa seed ?

Yes, it will work for any seed. Not many smaller than slaphappy but it shuts down to nothing. It really is a nice little seeder.

How much fertilizer will the bag hold? 10 20lbs?

I have only used mine for seeding, but I would guess 10-12 pounds.
