Q: Does the stopper seal effectively for handwashing dishes over a garbage disposal?

Yes! and it easily removes to use disposal and for cleaning of the stopper.

Q: How do you remove this from your sink? I have had it in for a year and the chrome has bubbled up and I cant get it out.

I believe it is screwed from a bottom piece, and silicon is applied between the sink and the drain. A plumber fixed that for me, and I would suggest that you do the same.

Q: What is the width of the basket itself? That is all I need.

I do not remember buying it, but the basket looks like 3" in diameter.
