Perfect for my record player / turntable! Built in preamp and amp saves $$$ and clutter.
I just got them after LOTS of research for my set up and I am very happy with them! Personally, I found that reddit reviews keep pointing towards more complex budget set ups for people to start out with separate parts to upgrade later, which is totally fine but takes up space and was frankly overkill for the average listener / beginner high fidelity speaker set up.I started with the Audioengine A2s because of all of the positive reviews, but after listening for 2 weeks, it was just totally lacking any mid/low end parts of my records and that was a huge adjustment. I knew people suggested buying a sub but dropping another $200-300 felt silly and added clutter to the space in my little apartment, I also didn't want to bug my neighbors with unnecessary bass.I went on the search again and decided to try the YU4s for the slightly larger size that would also give me better mid/lows out of the box.And it was the best choice! Kanto YU4s are a perfectly good set up for me (and maybe others not trying to get too intense and in the weeds on specs) for the following reasons:I needed high quality/durable (not going to upgrade in the next couple of years), aesthetically pleasing, small/medium sized table top speakers for my Fluance RT82 turntable:Pros:Built in phono pre amp and amp - I didn't have to buy either of these separate devices or cables and fit them all on the same space, this is a huge plus. They might not be the best audiophile options to give you incremental listening benefits, but the convenience and looks were important to me in my small dining room.Remote - you can adjust bass, treble, balance, volume and input all on one remote. No need for an app, or standing up to go over and adjust things. This was a big advantage over the A2s that you can't adjust anything on.Mid / lows for the size are impressive! I really don't see a need for a subwoofer as I'm just listening to records in a room that is about 15 x 15 feetPrice - without having the buy an amp or preamp, it was a good all-in-one.Cons: really haven't noticed anything yet for my space.I'm excited to have more people over to just enjoy my entertaining space which is now a little listening room and dining room in one!

These are amazing!!!
These speaking have been amazing so far! They look great, have many ways of connecting and they sound great. The speakers get loud and I mean loud, definitely something that could fill a large living room or a small get together. They are very solid with a good weight to them. The sound...I don’t in any way consider myself an audiophile, however I have been known to return audio products that don’t meet my standards. These sound amazing, there is a high level of clarity, I can hear background noises even at low levels. The bass is sufficient but there is a sub out if you like more. They seem to deliver a sense of space as well, making things feel almost 3D at times. And even at high level there is little to no distortion.Set up is easy, just plug up and get started, the remote is a nice touch. They also feature an auto-wake feature that turns the speakers on from sleep when you start playing audio to them. Kanto thanks for the Aux cable, but I would have liked to see an optical cable included as well, luckily I had one laying around so this wasn’t too much of an issue. The included audio cable is of good quality and very long, roughly 6 feet or so. And the power cord is thick, thicker then the one my pc came with, definitely meant to last a while. Bluetooth has been good as well, the range could be better but overall good, though the auto-wake doesn’t work with it.How does it look?I like all of the color choices, and I certainly would give a 1 Star on a product for not included a color of my choice especially something I didn’t even own.I opted for the glossy black color, and am very happy with it, the speakers look great and the larger speaker had a nice texture to it that stands out to me. There is a knob on the from that has multiple uses, however I’ve been using the remote more as I am more of a visual person. Now for the light/s on the front, there is a small circle on the bottom left of the powered speaker, this has multiple lights in it for power and Bluetooth indicators. Some have complained about it but it doesn’t really bother me. Although it does look a little out of place and I feel there was a better way of doing this.IssuesThere is some static that comes through from the ground loop, it’s very quite and only heard if your ear is right up against the speaker. Other than that I’ve been satisfied. These speakers come packaged with foam and each speaker is placed in a cloth bag, very nice packaging.Highly recommended!!!!Also the Kanto s2 stands are a little small and “springy” for these speakers, I wouldn’t recommend using them for the yu4 speakers, however Audioengine makes a DS2 stand (not to get confused with the DS1) for about $35 that’s big enough for these.

Sound great, look great, the best versatility, energy efficient
Great speakers. There are others in this price range and even lower that might sound pretty close, but they are either ugly or don't have the right inputs, or are energy inefficient, or some combination of those 3. These have a fairly modern bluetooth implementation, including aptx, which is necessary for decent wireless sound. It was between these and the peachtree m24, but the m24 does not have aptx. They pair very easily, have easy to use controls. Construction/build-quality seems perfect.I have them paired with a sub8, also by kanto, and it's a great combination. They sound very clean, clear, and somewhat "punchy" by themselves, but a 6 or 8 inch sub will allow you to hear the full range of the music source. The energy saving auto-sleep works perfectly and was a requirement for me, I hate forgetting to turn things off which consume a lot of power. These go to sleep automatically when not in use and draw less than a 1/2 Watt.pros:* clean, crisp sound* great bluetooth implementation* stylish, well built* energy efficient, auto-standby consumes < .5 watts and works well* many inputs, including turntable* usb 5v charging for a chromecast audio or future bluetooth receiver* pairs very nicely with the matching sub from the same company* reasonably pricedcons:* can't think of any
