This filter has done a great job of clearing up a bad microbial bloom in my backyard fish pond. For background: I have an 750 gallon pond with goldfish and mosquito fish. Every November/December, after the first big winter rain the pond turns gross and milky white with some kind of algae/fungus/bacteria. Usually I can get it under control with beneficial bacteria and extra filters. But this year nothing was taking care of it. It smelled bad and I couldn't even see the fish.The set-up was pretty quick once I figured out the tubing. I bought two "all-in-one boat bilge pump plumbing kits" (search that term) locally at a big box store. Each kit comes with 5' of corrugated hose with a 3/4" inner diameter, plus plumbing clamps to secure them. That fits the smaller nozzles that come with this filter and also fit my existing pump. If you're having trouble fitting the hose onto the nozzle, put the end of the hose into hot water for several seconds to soften it.Within a day or two, I could no longer see the white microbial scum. It did a great job of sanitizing! The water was still murky, though, and although it was getting a big clearer every day it wasn't as clean as I wanted. Also I was alarmed to find that the pH jumped from 8 to 9. I think the problem is that I set up the outflow as a waterfall coming from 2' above the pool. I was trying to maximize the aeration, but it was stripping out the dissolved CO2 in the water and continually churning everything up.Eventually I rerouted it so that the outflow is going under the water surface, and I added back a small fountain for lighter aeration. The water is now clearer. The fish seem happy and healthy again. The bottom line is that the this UV filter is great at taking care of microbial blooms, but it does take a bit of finagling to figure out the right hoses and installation for each individual pond.

In 5 years I believe replace this. Water at rusted the screws and got into the electrical compartments and Fry the electrical components. It was easy to operate and clean this device and it was always dependable. We're definitely recommend it if you're willing to spend a few dollars for it!

The media could not be loaded.  The UV light system is not working. I even tried a new UV bulb on it and placed it in the opposite direction in the socket and it is not working. I basically bought an expensive bucket. The box did not even write that the product was tested and functioning. I wasted my money and cant return to amazon as the item was shipped out of the USA.

Todo funciono muy bien aproximadamente 2 meses, estuve muy satisfecho pero tuve un problema con la parte eléctrica del filtro, simplemente el agua entró y daño todo el sistema y dejo de funcionar, el estanque se hizo verde de nuevo , la solución por la que opté fue comprar otro sistema de clarificación UV y instalarlo fuera del filtro conectándolos mediante una manguera, recomiendo enormemente a los fabricantes un prototipo de esta forma ya que entiendo es complicado aislar ambas partes.

The media could not be loaded.  Great filter!! Just pulled out all the filter cotton and cleaned everything. Put it all back and the red float isn't going back down. A little frustrating, I need some help

This seems easy to use/clean and helped my pond get clear very quickly!
