Get the RIGHT one
We have a 40-gal Whirlpool WH we purchased from Lowes. It came with the infamous WV8840B1110 Honeywell gas control valve (known for failing every few years), and after ours failed along with the thermocouple, I had to replace both. A new burner assembly ran over $200, so I decided to simply replace the thermopile instead (the actual burner plate on a heater this new rarely goes bad). My mistake was cheaping out to save $3!! I purchased a unit from the Meter Star Store, because the picture looked the same and it was a few bucks cheaper. The problem was, the housing of the thermopile assembly on the spark igniter end was the shaped slightly larger than the original unit I removed. This meant that it would not seat properly next to the burner plate. I returned it and purchased this item instead, after CAREFULLY inspecting the picture this time and seeing that the setup of this unit was exactly the same as the OEM I removed. It arrived the next day, and sure enough, it was a perfect match. I had the new thermopile assembly attached to the burner plate in 15 seconds, hooked everything up to the newly purchased gas control valve, and now my wife can happily take hot showers again!

This version worked great.
Replaced defective thermocouple in hot water heater, this version worked great. Much cheaper option than replacing the hot water heater.

Lasted for one week
This lasted one week. We had hot water again and it was going great initially. Now one week later, and the pilot won't light again.
