If you buy it, you will spend a lot of time showing it off to your friends!
This knife is one that I've owned for the third time with this one. Prettier wood than the previous ones, others had plainer materials. What I love about it is the unique way that it opens. When you hold it in your hand with the edge pointing up and the point to the left and you push on the back of the handle, the Blaine slides through the handle and out and locks into place. To reverse the process you simply pull on the same piece on the handle and the blade slides back into the body. It's the most you need knife I've ever seen. This one has a layer of Damascus hammered steel on either side of what is probably a much harder center core that holds an edge better, though that's just my theory. It seems that making the blade out of a single piece of Damascus steel would have been easier, so there must have been a reason and that reason is the hardness of the part of the blade that holds an edge. Why else go to all that trouble? The slot in the blade is a guide for pin in the front of the handle as the blade slides back and forth through its clever opening and closing mechanism. The rear pivot point in the front slide pin are reinforced with nylon bushings or pads that keep the blade from feeling loose if you try to move it from side to side. It's a good way to test the quality of a knife by trying to rock the blade from side to side when it's open or even when it's closed and this knife and it's blade are Rock solid. There is simply no looseness in the blade when it's open or when it's closed. All in all I consider this knife and it's layered Damascus blade to be a work of art and a design Wonder. If you look at the photo he will see what I'm talking about when I say that the blade extends through the handle. You can also see the bushings in both ends of the handle, that give the knife a very secure feeling. You will enjoy owning this knife and showing it to your friends!

very unique knife with a good vg 10 steel
Look you don't buy this type of knife and not be careful as it has a different way of opening up. As far as opening and closing of the blade is very smooth and feels good in the hand. Can just get 4 fingers on it and thumb on the back. Size med glove. with your hand on the knife opened ,it's almost impossible for it to unlock itself but flip upside down and holding the rear of the knife you can easy close it up It is a very clever design and the quality looks to be very good especially for the price you pay. Durability only time will tell but this is not a knife your going to put to the test like other good flippers with better steel. Ok its avg. sharp so I cut up a bunch of boxes to dull it for reprofiling the blade to a closer 15 degree angle. This is a unlike any sharpening I have done, because the grip is so big and the wood overlaps the blade edge so you sharpening with the blade pointing way back towards you. The damascus is sandwiched outside of the vg 10 steel and looks nice. I'm going to give it 4.5 star because its just a cool way of opening it up fun factor, along with nice all around good steel.

This knife is incredible!
I want to start off by saying that I followed the artist that patented this folding design many years ago and having been lusting for the chance to buy a knife that folds like this for YEARS while he sat on and did nothing with the patent. As surprised as I was to see it on amazon from someone (who I am uncertain if they are the artist or not), this thing is 100% true to the original form and is of very very reasonable quality for its affordable price point. And I can not be more excited! To the extreme dismay of my girlfriend, my excitement for being able to finally get my hands on these bad boys for the first time was actionably translated into me giving EVERYONE one of these in 2025! Family, friends, co-workers, in-laws, neighbors... I don't care, I am getting you this knife. You're having a birthday, wedding, retirement party, out-of-town gift, middle school graduation, just got out on parole, or baby shower... I don't care, I am getting you this knife. Oh, you love knives, hate knives, never used a knife, don't really feel one way or another about knives, might own 2 or 3 kitchen knives at most, or can't be seen in any instagram pics with a knife... I don't care, I am getting you this knife. Every time I gifted one of these bad boys I would wood burn something sentimental for the recipient, normally dates, names, initials, or quotes. An example one is in my attached pic. After handling at least a couple of these I feel that the build quality has been consistent (and obviously good/satisfactory) between all of them. They also all come comically sharp, at least I think its comical since I see these as little art pieces and did not expect to get something that is shaving ready like a straight razor. They are also not too small, the blade itself is roughly 5.5 inches. I know we like to joke about five and a half inches being on the larger size of things, but this folding knife is probably the only this this has ever been actually true. I am not sure if our standard experience with vanilla folding pocket knives belies our intuition of blade sizes, but I think its very apparent here as the parts of the handle itself fold into a distinctly separate space which the real handle occupies, that one does not concretely see when it is retracted; whereas normal vanilla folding pocket knives directly show you the size of the blade and handle, this one basically feels as if the handle is materializing and disappearing upon folding. Now, I finally decided to buy a couple of these for myself. Since I have not really owned one for any length of time I cannot speak to the long term usage of it or how much wear and tear evolves from your standard beatings, I cannot really speak to this. However, I will post and update edit in 2-3 years here to fill you in on that. Otherwise, all the pins are butter smooth and the handle is comfortable to grip. After all this praise you might wonder if there is any thing bad about this knife, and yes there are a couple tertiary cons. It comes with a neat little leather pouch/holder, if you are accustomed to actual leather sheaths you might be disappointed by how thin and stiff these little leather stamped things are, and they require more finagling than you expect to actually button shut. Though, the saving grace of these leather pouches are that they look really cool, and because of how pretty they are, I think these pretty leather pouches bought me way more time to give way more of these bad boys away, versus if the knife came by itself. The other thing that I only became aware of with doing so much wood/burning and carving of these, is that I think the varnish on them may have room for growth in the quality department. I solely base this thought on how it smells when it burns, I've smelled the good-good varnish when it burns, and in my opinion the smoke from burning the handles does not smell like that. This is purely my speculation though, and I have no actual idea on the varnish quality since I have not owned one of these long enough before giving them away. Can update you in 2-3 years there. Otherwise the wood itself and the actual steel are really quite great for its current price. I still do not know what to use these knives for, but hopefully when I actually own one for myself I can explore that idea further.

Beautiful.
Coolest knife I've ever seen or owned. The design and open close function are one of a kind and cool as hell. Dangerous though, if you are not careful how you open it. Actually a poor design when safety is considered, otherwise it's amazing. Beautiful, sharp, unique. I love this knife, but don't give it to a kid or inexperienced knife handler.

As sharp as they say, and yes read the instructions an be careful first time opening
Pretty cool and unique opening mechanism. I read the reviews and thought "ha, I can open a knife without cutting myself". Well, immediately nicked my finger. Once you see how it works, you're fine. But that first time, no joke, be careful. This comes razor sharp out of the box! Feels solidly built, nice quality. Appears to be real Damascus. The gimmicky nature of the handle makes this a creature of novelty as opposed to something you'd EDC or use as a true tool. I'll probably use it to open mail or maybe as a conversation piece for slicing cheese when guests come by.
