Like other viewers experienced
I had two exterior doors replaced and the installers were charging $15 per peep hole to be installed. So I decided to look into doing it on my own. I purchase the viewer for $8.00 and this drill bit both for under $15. Like other viewers experienced, the drill bit is short. So with that in mind I drilled the hole through the first layer of steel and foam, and because the bottom of the bit is long, i loosened the bit from the drill and extended it a little ensuring I screwed it tightly back in placed. I continue to drill through the door making an indentation in the steel. Now I had a starting point on the opposite side of the door to begin drilling. It created a seamless hole on both sides. Would recommend.

Quality product
I cut a thru a steel foam insulated door without a problem. As a matter of fact it worked too good. I marked the inside and outside of the door with the intention of cutting the outside metal and then cutting the inside metal of the door. I would then remove the foam insulation. The hole saw drilled thru the outside metal thru the insulation and drilled thru the inside metal of the door all in a matter of a few seconds. As luck would have it I was able to hold the drill straight and came out where I had marked the inside of the door. Great product that did the job.

Great item when ya need it!
Wanted a viewer in my house to garage door, found this hole saw to put the hole in the door. Great price, great little saw, worked just as it should (once I got a pilot hole drilled through the door). My grand-daughter needed a new viewer put in her front door, I bought one that was 5/8" inch outside diameter and her old one was only 1/2" - I found that a socket with a 1/2" OD fit inside the teeth of the saw and allowed me to expand the hole to 5/8" cleanly. May never use it again but it's certainly been perfect so far.

Quality and ease of use to facilitate a peephole installation.
Worth it to properly install a peephole in a timely fashion. No problem with steel insulated entry door. Sharp clean cut. Wear the proper safety glasses, the metal cutout removed from the door may be hot. Have a broom ,dustpan ready for cleanup Since I'm a do it yourselver, I have other projects it could be used for, if not I could sell it used at a discount on line. Used electric variable speed drill. DONE. Off the to do list.

Nervous to try it, but... it was so easy.
I wanted to enlarge my peephole for security, but I had never used a drill before and was pretty sure I was going to have to buy a new door. I watched a few videos and gave it a try. It was so fast and easy. The peephole viewer went right in and it was no problem at all.

Work with the right tool makes sight glass installation easy
Easy to drill front metal door. Make sure to keep bit level and at 90 degrees to the door surface. Pilot bit will give you the center point on the other half of drill hole.

Only buy this one if you just need to install 1 peephole.
Only buy this one if you just need to install 1 peephole. If I was doing multiple holes, I would want a higher quality bit. The set screw stripped out very easily, but I was able to get the job done.

Well worth the money!
I needed this hole saw to install an over-sized door viewer. Most of the others I saw were $20 and up, so I was happy to find this one at $7.99. It is very well made, very sharp, and it cut through my steel-clad door in no time. What more could I ask?
