How do you know if itsfjr a right or left handed person. I’m new to quilting

This works for both left and right handed! When you receive it, the unit will be set up for right handed use but you just remove 1 bolt with your hand and change the side the blade is on to make it left handed. It takes less than 30 seconds to change from right handed to left handed. I hope this helps. Will it cut balsa or basswood up to .25 inch for model making?

I believe the blade is sharp enough to cut back balsa, I'm not sure what basswood is. 1/4 inch may be pushing it. Not sure how long the blade would last though.
