Perfect and convenient
Needed to replace another brand garden hose timer which broke very quickly after use. Very easy to set up, install, and use. This unit is much more substantial than previous brand purchased, and is working beautifully. No leaks and reliable on/off as set. No need to worry about my flowers.

Easy to program, works great!
Throughout 50 years of gardening we have used almost every brand of water timer on the market. Rainpoint ( we have four of them) is by far the best we have ever had. Easy to set up with a wide range of options for setting watering times. We use one for our window boxes, one for hanging baskets ,one for our underground sprinklers and the fourth where ever needed. Noticed one comment which said it could not be set for more than 10 minutes of manual watering. That is not the case it can be set to water for hours manually.

Helpful for grass seeding
I bought two of these for a grass seeding project this past fall -- one for a small area in my front yard and another for a larger area in my back yard -- although in retrospect I wish I had gotten the two-zone timers. Still, it beat the pants off manual watering multiple times a day.The interface is easy to use but I do have two small gripes with it that I think would improve the product. The first is with making adjustments during the day. If I set a start time for, say, 8:00am but then realize I need to adjust the watering duration or frequency, it cancels watering until 8:00am the next day. I wish it would instead retroactively apply the changes to the start time and calculate the next watering time from that. The second is I wish I could limit the number of waterings per day, or else set an end time, because I don't need to water grass seed throughout the night. In my case I was watering for 5-10 minutes every couple hours during daylight hours, but each evening I would have to remember to go close the valve for the night and then reopen it in the morning. That frankly undermines the benefit of having a timer. At one point I did have one of the timer valves jam on me, to where water would not pass through even when it was supposed to be running. I tried running on manual mode several times like the Rainpoint website suggests, but to no avail. Rather than call customer support, I got a small screwdriver and opened the outer case and took the inner mechanism apart. Never found the source of the jam, but somehow just taking it apart and reassembling it fixed the jam. I probably voided my warranty in doing so, but it wasn't very difficult and it was useful to understand how the valve mechanism worked internally. And I probably resolved the problem faster than if I had contacted customer support. These are worth the money, in my opinion, but next time I have a large seeding project I think I'll upgrade to the two-zone timers.

Fulfills most important requirements
The instructions, build quality and longevity is why we decided to purchase additional units from this manufacturer. The first step is to follow the instructions. Testing the check valve as detailed not only in the instructions but additionally on the outside of the box should give one an idea of the importance of this step. The build quality is top notch. From the brass connector to the super tight battery housing and tight switches...previous units have held up for over two years in the hot Louisiana sun. The battery life is off the charts. Setup is uncomplicated and easy. The quality of the washers and filter also have stood the test of time. I am sure there will always be a 1% failure rate on production like all things, but the ones we have that have been used from new to three years in the hot tropical climate have been 100%.

Super easy and reliable
Great system. I live in South Texas and we are dry! I got this to use minimal water but keep my plants alive. I have had other auto waters in the past but this one surpasses them with ease of use and reliability. Extremely simple to set up. All the supplies to run water to your plants come with it. You only need a pair of scissors to cut lengths of tubing and a cup of HOT water to dip the ends into to easily slip them on the fittings. It took less than 45 minutes to set up the whole system. I will be buying a second one for another area of my yard.

Fingers Crossed That This Will Survive the Houston Sun
I've been living in my current house since July 2017. It's now August 2025. I have two outside spigots, each of which has a foundation watering system (aka irrigation) timer on them. In that time I've gone through two Orbit brand timers every other year. At $40 bucks a pop for around 8 timers, that's more than $320. I finally figured out what people mean by the definition of "crazy"...that is, doing the same thing over and over and expecting (well, hoping anyway) for a different result. Well, this time I went out on a limb and bought a different timer. So that's my story. With that said, the timer arrived in good condition and came with something that I had never thought about: Teflon tape! I've always had a hard time preventing water leaks. But the Teflon tape did the trick. The timer was easy to program and I've got my fingers crossed that it will hold up.

Well made and easy to program
I have had several timers but this one was easy to use with clear and simple instructions that made programming a breeze. It's perfect for watering my plants and flowers on a daily basis. It also seems to be made of quality material. If I had one complaint, it is that the manual button is a bit difficult to press as it is right next to the dial.
