A Time to Dance

Not for beginners.. but a great addition to your workout regimen, nonetheless!
Shazzy Fitness: A Time to Dance is a really fun, upbeat workout but it take some practice. The Pros:-The DVD arrived earlier than expected and included a very nice note that made a great first impression.-The menu showed you exactly what was on the DVD and was easy to navigate.-The music was great: upbeat and fun and the dance moves really felt fresh and contemporary.-There was a nice representation of body types/sizes/age ranges which is always nice to see in a workout video.-Definitely felt like I got a GOOD workout from this DVD!The Cons:-There is no warm up or cool down on this DVD, which is a shame, because I would consider this a pretty high impact workout. Having a guided warm up/cool down of the muscle groups exercised in this video would have been very nice. I could have easily gone for a longer, maybe 20 minute workout that did include a warm up/cool down.-This workout is pretty advanced. They definitely throw you into the deep end of the pool with complex dance moves that change rapidly. (The pro attached to this con is that at least you get to look like an uncoordinated idiot from the privacy of your own home, vs. going to the dance workout program at the gym, where public humiliation is a given unless you are a professional dancer.) That said, since it is a DVD, you'll have ample opportunities to learn the moves and gain some mastery over the steps and getting to that point with this DVD will feel like a REAL accomplishment.-The instructions that are given throughout the workout are too quick and vague to be much help. It can be hard to figure out what to do by listening to the workout instructor, but by watching and following the dancers you can, with practice, learn the steps. To sum up: a fun, high impact workout that feels like a challenge, but in a good way!

Not for beginner dancers
I couldn’t follow the steps. Not for beginner dancers.

The right kind of dance/workout
Finally, a dance/workout video that has almost everything I'm looking for. 1. It teaches the moves in a fast enough way with the music that you continue to workout. 2. It uses catchy and fun music to dance to instead of boring instrumental. 3. It provides a run through of the routine without instruction.I didn't give it a 5 because it doesn't get my heart rate up as much as I would like for a workout and I am not a fan of the music.I would recommend this.

fun,creative,energetic!
I am a dancer and a fitness instructor I absolutely loved it! Choreography is on point and I loved the music! It challenges me to use my brain with less instruction it means I am not relying on the instructor but actually concentrating and being in sync with following and memorizing the choreography just finished and I am feeling great!

Great Music & Moves
I appreciate all the work that went into making this video. The choreography and choice of music is great. The dancers were inspiring. I did find that compared to other Shazzy video's, they tried to pack more moves into each song. It made it harder to learn and follow the moves. I would have to watch this several times before I got the dances down. For some people, that would be a bonus and it would keep them from getting bored. I just want a quick dance workout without having to think so hard.

Awesome Dance Workout!!
I love, love, love this series! I bought the " In the Beginning" DVD first and liked it so much that I bought this second one right away. The moves are more challenging on this one, but every time I workout I get the moves down a bit better. I'm so glad to find a dance workout to Christian music! I was looking at Zumba, but was afraid I wouldn't like the music. Don't have to worry about that with this. Even if the music isn't your style, it's still Christian music so you don't have to worry about getting some worldly song stuck in your head. I've worked up to doing it several times a week now and I can tell a difference in my fitness level and my shape. I recommend getting "the Dance Socks" for doing this because they allow you to pivot and slide with less knee strain. They go over your shoes. I have Nike Airs and they work well with them. I look forward to Shazzy putting out more of these dance videos!!

Love The Moves!!!
I wasn’t overly exhausting but I felt the workout. I did break a sweat and the hip hop music doesn’t contain profanity! :))

Fun if you want unstructured movement
If you just want to get up and dance around your living room, this would be a fun video (if you're into gospel hip-hop style music). But you could also do the same thing by just putting on your favorite music and having just as much fun flailing around. As an exercise instructional video, this isn't great. First, there's no warm-up, and I'm going to assume no cool down, but I didn't get that far. Second, the dance moves are almost impossible to follow they go by so quickly. Not everything needs to be structured, which is why I didn't give this a lower rating, but this video just isn't going to work for everyone.
