Great waterproof/lifeproof camera
This is a replacement for an earlier version, a Nikon AW100, that was stolen. We have a cruising sailboat in the South Pacific and a Nikon will produce the photos quality that we need to document our travels. Although I dive, I don't take the camera since a failure would leave us with phone cameras only. The waterproofness is essential. With the extra waterproof capabilities, this one is a bit heavier than our AW100. The video capabilities are so sophisticated that we're starting to move toward that, now. We recommend at least trying them. For us, color reproduction is essential and we seem to be getting that from the Nikon. The images are enormous and suitable for making holiday cards and such, a plus for us. Do buy a small camera bag or pouch since, even though it's heavily built, scratches and dents are possible without it. We also bought an AC charger for the battery since the included charger charges through the camera. Get a second battery, too. We also have a small plastic tripod, the legs for which can be wrapped around items and it's served us well.

High quality point & shoot for outdoor sports
Great product for outdoor sports. Works in extreme cold; it also is waterproof (though I have not used it in water). Photos are very high quality.Only caveat: self timer is only a maximum of 10 seconds.I used to own a Canon point and shoot whose self timer had a maximum of 30 seconds - much more useful. But the Canon was rugged like this Nikon. The Nikon W300 is a great product at a great price.

NOT waterproof.
This waterpoof camera is NOT WATERPROOF! That's what I need you to know here. If that's good enough for you then move on.If you want more details, then I will say that I loved this camera when I first got it. I researched a lot when I was looking at waterproof cameras. This one had good reviews. Other cameras were said to have issues. When I got it I thought it had really good photo quality. When taking photos with it I found that it dealt with low light situations better than my other cameras. It picked up colors better and more accurately than my other cameras.I took it for one swim last summer and it was great. Took video and photos underwater very well. BUT THEN I took it out again and put it into a small amount of water and now there's water INSIDE THE LENS! The water did not come in through the door, because the camera itself is fine and its on the opposite side of the cameras lens. Now, whenever I take photos there's two drops of water that are jiggling around in the top right and bottom right side of the lens. It ruins every photo and video. I am so mad. I keep trying to find some way to get the water out via whatever way it came in. But the water won't come out. I don't understand how it got in! And I really can't get it out. If it's hot out then the water turns to steam and fogs up the whole lens. I really am mad. I spent north of 400 dollars on a waterproof camera that is not waterproof. And it's too late for me to even return it.

It's a Nikon ... it's the BEST!
This Nikon W300 Waterproof Camera is a workhorse camera, perfect for most all situations. First, it's waterproof - it really can be wetted or submerged, take pictures underwater, works in the rain, works if you drop your coffee on it, it works! Second, it's a Nikon - the optics are superior, taking great shots for a point-and-shoot camera, enough said, it's a Nikon. Third, it's compact and handy - you should always carry it with you and you won't miss a shot, take quick shots faster than your cell phone. Fourth, app available to autosave your images to your cloud, to your cell phone then cloud, the images can be set up to be auto saved, how convenient! And Fifth, the price is right, extremely reasonable price for an all around camera!!!

So far, not bad.
i have an AW120, great camera, i am only buying the W300, because the 120 makes a hissing sound making videos. W300 makes no hissing sounds. Very clear audio. up close, does not seem to focus on small print, like a book. I make mine videos, great low light conditions. stable stumbling around the mine. I like it, don't love it. I think the 120 is better, except for the hiss. I would buy again.

Kid Friendly
This camera is durable and easy to use! I now own two of these cameras. I bought them because they aren't easily broken. I have 8 children and 15 grandchildren. These Nikon cameras are perfect to pass around between my grandchildren at family gatherings. The kids can take them underwater or drop them and the camera isn't damaged. The pictures are great and I don't have to worry about losing a more expensive and more complicated camera. The only drawback is that the batter lasts only half an hour. I have purchased multiple batteries in order to keep the camera going throughout the duration of our gatherings.

Just Okay.
First of all, I have not tested the waterproof capabilities yet so I can't speak to that.I bought this camera specifically for a big trip and overall, the camera did the job. However, I can't say I'm especially pleased with the product. First of all, some of the functions are a bit confusing so it takes some getting used to and you may actually have to read the manual. I also felt that the colors weren't great in the photos. My iPhone 6s captures color much better than this camera. Finally, it took me several tries and eventually some research to figure out how to get the photos off the camera and onto my computer. The camera I bought 10 years ago was much more user-friendly than this camera, which is a huge negative in my opinion. Also, please be aware, this camera is NOT sold with a memory card. It does have some internal memory, but I'd definitely recommend purchasing a memory card, as well as additional batteries for this camera. I wish that info were clearly spelled out in the description.Bottom line, I don't think it's worth the money. I appreciate the durability, but if I wanted a camera that's difficult to use and only takes okay photos, I would have gotten something much cheaper.
