its a brass rod - it acts exactly like a brass rod
i bought this thing to use as a specialized punch to drive stuck things out of things where they should not be stuck - i haven't had to use it - but i presume it will transmit the force of a hammer just fine

These make excellent Feeler Gauges for Guitar & Bass set-up
I use these in the shop for Bass & Guitar setup. They are invaluable. I gave up on trying to read the little rulers once I got my 1st set of gauges (brass rods from Amazon) a couple years ago. A quick bend in the vice and they are very precise for setting up string & pickup height. Other luthier supply sources don't offer the variety of sizes, and you can't beat the price of these!
