I replaced a 10 year old Ryobi with this EGO. It performed way better than my Ryobi model ever did. The battery only went down 1 bar, which is also better than my old one. Impressed so far.

A noticable upgrade compared to my Ryobie 40V, 15". Noise, power, battery life & charge rate exceded expectations after a single use. The automatic string winding feature is particularly impressive, making the restringing process more convenient. Although I've only used it once, I plan to update this review over the next three years to assess its long-term quality and durability.

I have had this for a couple of years now, bought it mostly for cutting down my cover crop in my large garden and to help my Dad cut weeds down in my parents yard. I love the power it has but I am not impressed with the string head. The unit comes with about the weakest string the world has to offer, it breaks just cutting a blade of grass, so I put the good heavy string that I used in my old gas trimmer in it. The string went through the holes in the string head fine but the auto load part is too weak and doesn't want to wind the string in. I need the heavier string in this unit and it takes several pushes of the button and a little help to get it loaded. I wish I could just load it by hand like the other heads that you just hand ratchet the string in.

I first bought this Ego line trimmer, not being sure about battery operated tools. I was so pleased with this trimmer that I have added the hedge trimmer and blower. It works well for me on the front and back yard. Batteries charge really fast as well. Two batteries work fine for me, but might add a third battery when I buy the edger.

DO NOT buy ANYTHING from this company. They have LOUSY customer service and they allow DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS to leave the factory, apparently untested. I should have checked this thing out IMMEDIATELY after purchase so I could have SENT IT RIGHT BACK to Amazon during their 30 day grace period. Mine came complete with a defective battery OR charger and won't run at all. I registered the tool, the battery, and the charger on their site which took considerable time, due to the fact that each piece had to be registered separately. THIS WAS A WASTE OF TIME because when I called them I was told that I would have to take a screenshot of my invoice and attach it to an email that they would send me, then send that to them. THEN I could CALL them so thy could "troubleshoot" the problem OVER THE PHONE. The damned charger indicates that it is a defective battery, which should have NEVER left the factory. It is obvious that they have ZERO QUALITY CONTROL. ALSO, why should I have to provide them a screenshot. I am 66years old and haven't got a clue as to how to do this( although I did try to learn ) and NO OTHER COMPANY THAT I HAVE DEALT WITH REQUIRES ANYTHING MORE THAN AN AMAZON ORDER NUMBER! I explained this to them and I was told TOUGH LUCK! IF I did this screenshot thing, just what is to troubleshoot when their charger INDICATES A BAD BATTERY. I am out over $150 on this piece of crap and want to get the word out to all seniors and anybody that isn't any more tech savvy than I am that they SHOULD NOT DO BUSINESS WITH EGO! I ALWAYS rate great products and bad ones. THS IS THE WORST RIP OFF that I have had perpetrated on me in years! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH COMPANIES WHO HAVE BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE LIKE EGO. Very light for the power. Ego makes great products and stands by their warranty. I have several of their products.
