Works great! ZAP! Take that! Bugs will hate it! UPDATED REPORT
UPDATE A YEAR LATER: My original is still working great! I decided to get a second bug zapper. After trying an on-sale competitor's (which I didn't like & gave away to my neighbor) I bought a second Buzzbug identical to my first, even though I know there are "updated" models now. My second works just as well as my first and I'm so happy I went back to this brand. Worth it! Love this product! Ever since I accidentally brought home over-ripe fruit, we've been plagued with fruit flies! Ack! Last year, I bought one of those wand-type models which worked fine, but its blue light is already wearing out and it's very top heavy, unlike this very stable model. Plus, I needed another zapper so I can have one in the kitchen and one next to my computer screen where those nasty fruit flies dive bomb my head like in a war zone. This zapper is definitely the answer! Pretty sure I'm getting another one for upstairs. I might even try it outside on my dry covered-porch. It's actually a little larger than I expected-- my fault, I'm pretty bad at visualizing dimensions stated, but that's no problem at all. It fits perfectly on my counter top or desk or even on my stairs landing and it's very STABLE. It reminds me of the old small "boom boxes" in shape. It plugs into a regular wall socket (much appreciated as my old wand is only USB) and has a simple on/off switch and a good-sized length of cord. No batteries, straight outlet AC plug. There is a clean-out tray at the bottom. Great idea! My old wand-type scatters dead bugs all over my desk lol. It also has a strap for hanging/carrying but I've not used that. Not the prettiest contraption in the world, but boy that blue light lures in anything flying and ZAP! (Best when used in a dim area or corner.) And... it not only zaps those fruit fly buggers, but it also got the giant horsefly that snuck through my door! Bahahaha! Take that! Some other types have more of a mesh covering so larger insects won't get zapped thoroughly. Not this product! It draws in any size. The "zap" is pretty ear splitting (the same as my wand-type), I mean, startling, so you might not want it in a bedroom. But, man! That loud zap is so satisfying I can't explain. It actually makes me grin. Take that!! (Oh yeah, plus it comes with two spare light tubes.) Since I've only had it for a little over a month, I can't speak to its longevity. WARNING: Be careful with ANY of these zapper products if you have pets (wet noses = not very compatable with electricity!) or very small children (same with tiny fingers). I don't think it would do great harm to anybody, but doubt it would be pleasant.

Great bug zapper! Quiet and gets the job done.
The flies this year are unbelievable! We have tried on of those electrified racquets but its a pain to have to chase the flies around and try to get them. After a long day out while we had some work done on our house we returned home to find the doors had been open and our kitchen was full of flies :( I had had enough and so purchased this hoping for great things, and I am not disappointed at all! Flies and moths especially are attracted to the blue light and then zapped with a satisfying "snap". Even though it does work on then, I do wish that mosquitoes were better attracted to the light since if they are not in the direct vicinity, they will not go to it. Other than that it's very easy to use, works exactly as advertised and feels great quality for the price. I like that it came with a replacement bulb also. It is light enough in weight to hang up if necessary, and also stands well on a countertop. The slide out tray to empty the dead bugs is easy to use, and the instruction manual gives detailed instructions on how to clean it with a brush in case of bugs being stuck on the electrified piece, as well as instructions for how to discharge the device before doing this. Aside from the crack when a bug is zapped, it does not make any humming noise.

So Good I Bought Two More—Reliable Indoor Bug Control That Works
I’ve been using this bug zapper since 2024, and it’s been incredibly effective. It works quietly in the background and does exactly what it’s supposed to—keeps flying insects under control indoors without any hassle. It’s been so reliable that I ended up buying two more for different areas of the house. Setup is simple, maintenance is minimal, and it just consistently gets the job done. If you’re dealing with indoor bugs and want something that actually works, this is an easy recommendation.

Helps with animal feed moths
If you buy animal feed (like horse feed) then you know there always tends to be some moths in the bag as soon as you open them. I was having a terrible infestation because some of those moths found their way into the house and found my (human) food pantry. I was tired of not only the nuisance of the moths themselves but sick of throwing out food the moths had snuck into. I hung this bug zapper inside my garage above where we keep all the horse feed (so it was exposed to the Florida humidity but never actual rain drops). This has helped reduce the amount of moths in my garage by a ton & consequently the number of moths that escape into the house to 0 in just a few weeks. Unfortunately it did randomly stop working after a few months so I reached out to customer service & they quickly sent me a replacement under their warranty. Thankfully it stopped working during winter so there weren't that many bugs while I waited for a replacement. When I spend money on something I definitely want it to last but at least with the warranty it was easy to get a replacement. The only downside is the environmental impact because what can I do with the one that stopped working? In terms of noise, I can hear it through the closed garage doors. I can hear bugs being zapped when I'm outside with the main garage door (for cars to drive through) closed. I can hear bugs being zapped when I'm in the house with the normal door closed. It used to be music to my ears because I knew that was one less bug that could find it's way into my pantry but after a while it does get a little irritating. If I close the doors to the immediately in front of the house I don't hear it in the rest of the house. My dogs are terrified of the noise. The jump every time they hear it if I don't remember to close those doors. One of my dogs used to spend most of his time napping in the room right outside the garage but won't go over there anymore.

It works!
We have had a problem with cluster flies in the fall/winter for many years. They start moving into the house in the fall and reside here all winter. Those lazy flies that look dead but get up and lazily fly away if you get close. This year, they started moving in and we took new measures to combat them. Bought some concentrated pyrethrum and mixed it in a pump sprayer, then sprayed it around the outside of our windows/doors/vinyl corner trim on the house. Then we bought this zapper for the ones in the house and the sneaky ones that still got in. The spray helped a lot! But this big zapper actually attracts flies to it and it has really helped to kill the additional ones inside. We’ve tried other zappers but they didn’t have the right UV light to attract the flies. This one works! Well worth the money. It is a bit loud but I don’t even care if it keeps killing these pests. It’s so easy to use and to clean if necessary, plus it comes with extra bulbs. Haven’t needed those yet though, just got it less than 2 months ago.

The fluorescent tubes attract more bugs than LEDs! Bugbug support is good.
This version of the Buzbug Bug Zapper works very well. I have seen a big difference on how well bugs are attracted to the fluorescent tubes in this version versus the LED lights in the other version. I recommend the fluorescent tubes version over the LED version because the bugs are much more attracted to the fluorescent tubes over the LEDs. I also recommend Buzbug’s product support as very responsive and surprisingly easy to work with. Several years ago I bought a fluorescent tube bug zapper (I think Buzbug under a prior name) with which I was very satisfied for most of it life. The first couple of years the tubes would burn out after 12-16 months which was acceptable. However, later the replacement tubes were burning out after 4-6 months which was irritating. So I tried a BugBuz LED bug zapper. I received it but it never zapped any bugs. I gave up on it and contacted Buzbug. They were responsive and easily send me a second LED version. Unfortunately, it worked only very slightly better on my South Florida bugs. So I bought this fluorescent tube version which we put in our kitchen and we are very satisfied with. Quantitatively, we hear 3-4 zaps per day in our kitchen from this fluorescent tube version. By comparison, we would only hear a single zap from the LED version zapper in three or four weeks in the same position in our kitchen. We have kept the two LED versions in other places in the house. The first LED one makes a zap maybe once every two months. The second LED zapper is closer to an exterior door and we hear it zap 2-3 times per week.

It Works…
Originally I thought this was crap and it didn’t work. I was going to send it back as was very dissatisfied with it. I literally thought I have been scammed but now think maybe the bulbs take awhile to break in or something but it’s zapping the little flying bastards all the time now and I am very happy with it. It’s loud and occasionally catches me, the mrs and the kids off guard and makes us jump but it’s a very rewarding sound especially as for a week or so it didn’t do a bloody thing. If you get one, give it time to break in. I was literally taking the zapper to the flys and they weren’t attracted to it. Left it on overnight and still nothing. Now it’s getting them in the daylight in what is a well lit kitchen all the time. I haven’t yet cleaned it which sounds gross, but I think having a death pit of flys may also be attracting the others. When I clean it. I may have to retain some of the juicy ones to attract more in the future. It’s one of the better looking zappers which is why I bought it however still wouldn’t want it on display. I put it high up above the kitchen unit and can only see it when it’s on because of the bright blue light.

Works as intended
Best bang for buck, we use it mostly for lady bugs and flys during the night, and it is loud but effective. only suggestion would be to make the grid a bit tighter as sometime it doesn't zap them until they spread their wings to fly. otherwise its been working great for a couple weeks now.

Efficient bug zapper solution
I leave this on 24/7 in our kitchen. It’s been very efficient at collecting large numbers of all types of flying insects. It literally zaps the critters instantly. Very pleased with the virtual elimination of flying pests in our kitchen. Also doubles as a night light!
