Captain Rodney's Private Reserve Key Lime Curd, 11.5 Ounce

BLUF: BUY IT. BUY IT NOW. I have been on the hunt for a proper lime curd. I am allergic with anaphylaxis to yellow food coloring which *so many* lemon and lime curds contain. I detest the excessively thick, cloying flavor of curds made with excess corn starch & other thickeners. FINALLY, I found what I was looking for! True lime sweetness with a natural tart punch (vs the ones made with extra acids to make them super sour). It is rich with the lovely, custardy, egginess a real curd should have. I love to use citrus curds in baking recipes and with such simple ingredients, this one works extremely well. The flavor is strong enough that a little goes a long way. I bought this to use for an upcoming birthday cake but will have to order more because I am not sure I can stop eating it myself. The jar has an attractive, gourmet foods look & feel suitable for gifting (I am not sure that translates well here on Amazon in pics). It was extremely well packaged (other sellers, please take note! Captain Rodney actually bothers to package things so they don't leak all over all the other stuff in your Amazon box!) The price point for the quality is a good value. I am looking forward to trying Captain Rodney's other products...right after I make some toast to spread with this perfect Key Lime Curd.

More subtle than regular Lime Curd, which I also like (my favorite citrus is lime in any form). This works well with breads (including biscuits, scones, etc.) that are not strong flavored. Breads that are strong flavored, such as whole multigrain breads, overwhelm the flavor of the Key Lime in this product. I particularly like this on French bread, biscuits, regular muffins, English muffins and the like. Whole multigrain breads (which I love) are best with stronger flavored curds, preserves and the like. So I have both types of curd for my discriminating taste in various bread forms. Lemon curd is good but not as good as lime.

This product arrived rancid. Tasted like chemicals and I cannot request a refund. Buyer beware.

This lime curd is not too sweet or too tart, a nice light flavor. It has a texture to it, unlike most other curds that have a velvety smooth feel...no big deal, just a little different. Sits nicely on a cracker. Yummy!

Absolutely wonderful key lime taste and not too sweet! I use it with mini pie crusts to make little key lime tarts or just eat it straight out of the jar. Yum! I will definitely be getting more when I run out!

great mix of tart and sweet. Tastes just like key lime pie filling from the south but consistency is of a curd. I am going to use for macarons. Very happy with product, would buy again.

These jars were not checked before packing and I suspect were never properly sealed. So disappointed!
