Yes, as long as the preamp is active you can use the Zen Can as a preamp directly from the rca out of the turntable.

How's the xbass boost on this? looking to add a bit of bass to my sennheiser hd6xx.

While I wouldn’t recommend this amp (I returned mine and got the standard zen amp), in general ifi’s bass boost and space boost are subtle, but very very good. Great on 6xx, almost like they’re made for each other
