Super happy with this
I spent a ridiculous amount of time online shopping, researching and reading reviews for the perfect wireless keyboard and I had it narrowed down to this and several others. This one really is worth the price. My goal was to have the perfect setup - have my laptop on a shelf near my HDTV and plug into the TV via the HDMI cable, and then get a wireless keyboard and mouse so I can control my computer from my couch like the lazy sod I am. And come on, Hi-def computing! I'm about 10-12 feet away from my computer and both the keyboard and mouse work flawlessly. I love the extended USB receiver. I just hang it over the shelf and it picks up the signal perfectly. I also like that the one receiver works for both the mouse and the keyboard simultaneously as it leaves me more open USB ports. I've been using both the mouse and the keyboard very regularly since I bought this eight months ago and the original batteries on both are still going strong with no hint of fading. The keyboard is of a nice, strong quality. The keys have a nice, smooth response, which makes typing easier. I like the music player and volume controls, as well as the on/off switch (even though I never use it, I just leave it on), and the calculator shortcut. The mouse is a litter bigger than I like, but that's just a personal preference. The quality is as good as the keyboard, if not better. It also has an on/off switch, which I also never use. I'm surprised the original batteries are still going strong after eight months. Overall, there's really nothing bad I can find about this keyboard or the mouse. I'm very happy with this purchase. Highly recommended!

A great option at this price point or higher
This keyboard/mouse combo have impressed me over the past couple months in terms of comfort, quailty, and performance. My review is for common computing tasks, and not so much gaming (according to my gamer roommate, wired are perfered for this anyway?). Compatability: This has been plug and play on each device I have tested it on. This includes Macbooks, Laptops and PC's running various Windows OS's (XP, 7, and Vista confirmed) and even my FireTV, RaspberryPi and a cheap laptop running Linux. In each case drivers installed automatically and quickly requiring no additional work from me. The keyboard and mouse run off of a single (small) USB hub, which is great for devices with limited USB hubs (like the FireTV). Build: I have no complaints over the quality of materials used. Seems to be on point with most other keyboard/mouse combos. Typing and clicking on the mouse are actually quite quiet. I didn't notice this until returning to work and realizing how loud my keyboard was there (now it drives me crazy). Thoughtfully, Logitech uses a small USB hub that takes up very little room when plugged in, and also includes an on/off button on both the keyboard and mouse to help conserve power (a feature I had not seen before, others just time out and go to sleep on you). I've been using this combo regularly for several months off the original, included, batteries. Finally, it has good range. Works fine, with no lag, across my family room to whatever device it's attached to (probably 15 feet). I doubt most users will need it to go much further. I have not needed to try it at a greater range so cannot comment on it's max range. In the end, I have no real complaints. It's a winner at it's price point, and I would recommend it. Just don't lose that tiny USB hub!

Great keyboard and mouse set; Logitech stands by its products under warranty
I bought my first MK520 set a couple years ago. The mouse and keyboard both worked great until recently I noticed my left mouse button wasn't working properly. It would register single clicks as double clicks and wouldn't always register when I was performing a long press. Because I was still within the warranty period I contacted Logitech and requested a replacement. After providing proof of purchase from Amazon, Logitech sent me a brand new MK520 set. The warranty process took about a week -- all by email -- and was easy and painless. I was very pleased to see Logitech stand by its product and send me a replacement mouse and keyboard even though my keyboard was still working perfectly. Now that I have the new set, I am enjoying this product even more. The latest version of the keyboard has different keys than the set I had previously. The keys feel a little more "gritty" which allows my fingers to grasp the keys better. Not much changed about the mouse, but it was already adequate. Wireless signal strength is still great and never was an issue. Battery life is much better than the cheaper Logitech set I owned several years ago before my first MK520 set. Overall I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it for anyone looking for a decent keyboard and mouse at a reasonable price. Also and most importantly: if you run into any problems or defects with your keyboard or mouse and you're within the warranty period, contact Logitech! They will work with you to rectify the issue and will send you a free replacement if need be. (Note: one star was deducted from rating because the first mouse failed. While Logitech did a great job resolving the issue, the fact is that it still occurred.)

Yes! This thing!
Update: 2018 - Sometime around maybe March of this year, the mouse started fighting with me in earnest. I can still use the keyboard, but the mouse is completely unusable. I'll probably order this product or something very similar eventually, but I don't have a current need to. Overall feel like I got my money's worth out of it. Update: Six years later, I've completely worn off two letters, and partly worn off six others, but the keyboard still works, every key, and the mouse is still working. I have had a slight trouble with the mouse off and on where it'll double click when I click once, or click while I'm dragging. It's been off and on, and at one point, I got a new mouse, only for this one to start behaving again. That was almost six months ago, and the logitech mouse has been fine since. No other problems, and I'm still overall pretty happy with the purchase. I wouldn't go back to wired again if at all possible. It's just so much easier to clean, and the feel is right for me. This thing is perfect. A couple things: The keys feel fine. I am used to a laptop keyboard and wanted something with a mostly flat, slim profile. Reviews mentioning weird dimpled keys made me nervous-- for keyboard and piano, I'm really picky about what I want to be touching for hours. This thing, however, is perfect, comfortable, and non-distracting. The backspace key and all bottom-row keys, particularly the spacebar, are slightly out-jogged and convex-curved. It's subtle and cozy. Typing is a smooth and comfortable experience, and the little palm and wrist rest at the bottom is just enough for me. The wireless quality seems good. I wanted a wireless keyboard and mouse so that when I hook up my Casio piano keyboard to my computer via MIDI-to-USB, I can drag my typing keyboard over to my lap or wherever else without having to fiddle with wires. I have a -very- small, dense space. This was more than adequate. The receiver was plug-and-play, worked perfectly, and I was never left wondering how to configure anything about it. The set comes also with a wireless receiver extension cord. This is basically just a USB extension cord, so I use it for other devices. The mouse has a cute little hidey-spot for the receiver underneath, too. The battery life is more than fine. I keep forgetting to turn the keyboard and mouse off, but I've yet to replace batteries. I recommend getting Sanyo Enerloop batteries when you eventually have to replace the ones that come with the set. Since I always have them around, I'm not worried about battery annoyance or cost. What else? The packaging was great, and the products are attractive and easy to use. I haven't tried the custom-programmable function keys yet, but I'll update this review when I do. I have no complaints. I love this product.

Ther Perfect Compliment to a Media Center Setup
Having a job again allowed me to get back into the computer world, and revamp my media center pc! Logitech has always been a company of choice for me. They have a solid past and what looks like a solid future. At first glance in the packaging the keyboard seemed smaller then I anticipated, but turned out to be the perfect size. Sitting atop my coffee table, it takes up a comfortable amount of space, with more then plenty of space to spare for the mouse as well as drinks or anything else your heart desires (My heart doesn't desire drinks around my keyboard). One thing you can't tell from the pictures on Amazon, or Logitech's site for that matter, is this nice clear plastic bezel that goes around the entirety of the keyboard. Many of you have tv's from Samsung or another company that have a similar feature around the edge of the tv. Along with the glossy black that surrounds the keys, it's incredibly appealing. Do note, glossy things look sleek, but are finger print magnets!!! :) Something keyboard enthusiasts look for is a certain click and feel with the keys. Right now it feels odd to me since I've been using a terrible keyboard and mouse for quite sometime. However, it will definitely grow on me. The sound from the keys is gentle and the keys don't drop hard at all. They have a soft click, but not too soft. The keys are also spaced perfectly. The media keys are fantastic and work great with XBMC, however, I wish there were more. It's got more then my last keyboard did though, which makes all the difference. The mouse that comes with the keyboard is a Logitech M310. This mouse blows my previous mouse away, which was a Logitech LX3 wired mouse. The mouse is shorter then my previous mouse, which I originally thought would feel weird in my hand. I was wrong. The mouse sits comfortably in my hand, and along with the rubberized grips, has a more then perfect feel. The only complaint I have about the keyboard is the build quality. The clear plastic bezel that goes around the edge of the keyboard feels shady in some spots and wiggles a bit in another spot. However, when taken into consideration, this does not affect the use or need of the keyboard at all and does not bother me. My final thoughts? This is an awesome keyboard/mouse combo that I would suggest to anyone. Take into consideration that when buying a new keyboard or mouse, it may feel different at first, but don't be afraid of different. It will grow on you, and for the better. This set is the nicest set i've had in a very long time. Logitech continues to remain a crucial part of my setup, and will for many years to come.

Another solid Logitech product!
I purchased this keyboard and mouse to use with my Lenovo ThinkStation office computer because I have Logitech speakers which have worked very well. These replaced the USB keyboard and mouse which originally came with the computer and I have nothing but good things to say about them. This keyboard and mouse comes all ready to go, you just plug in the receiver and pull a tab out of the keyboard and mouse. Windows 7 Enterprise recognized the receiver right away and within seconds I was typing away. I'm not very tech savvy, but the software for the keyboard that you download from Logitech's website was very easy for me to use and lets you do things like check the mouse/keyboard battery level and program what you want the function keys to do. The function keys are very useful, you can go back and forward in web pages, open the calculator, open Outlook, open My Computer, and I was able to program others to open other software I use. The mouse is very comfortable in the hand and has a good weight that isn't too heavy or light. The wireless works very well, my computer tower sits a good five feet away and it still works as fast as USB. Even if your tower is further away, Logitech includes an extension cable for the receiver so that you can move the receiver a couple feet closer to you for a better signal. Other thoughts: In the pictures, it looks like the keys and palm rest have a soft coating like the keys on the newer Dell Latitude laptops. That's was what I expected, but they are actually hard plastic. After typing for a while, though, I think I prefer the hard plastic. The keys are also nicely rounded and provide a good amount of tactile response so it is a very nice keyboard to type on. I also like that the mouse doesn't use the conventional red light on the bottom to track movement, it uses a non-visible laser. My only complaints would be that to use the keyboard's handy ability to stand up straight, you have to push down the levers that hold the keyboard up on one end, and that there are no lights to indicate whether Scroll Lock or Num Lock are on or off (although when you push one it tells you on the screen 'Scroll Lock Off' for example. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase and am now the envy of my coworkers. I may also buy another set for my home computer!

Very Impressive
I am a Computer Science Major. I spend countless hours on the computer and I'm constantly using a keyboard. Installation: Completely painless. I put the USB transceiver in, Win7 auto detected, and it basically installed itself. It comes with batteries pre-installed, but you have to yank out the plastic tabs. The kybd and mouse synced up instantaneously. Quite a bit of thought was put into the design of this keyboard. The space bar has an outward bulge to it, making it easier on the thumbs. The tension on the keys is light, but brisk. There is a slight bit of sway on the keys, but this is not a $100 keyboard. "F" and "J" home keys denoted with a raised bar, not a pathetic little bump that cannot be felt. Rubber bumpers on the bottom side, toward the user, provide resistance on table/tray/etc, plus the weight of the kybd prevents it from sliding forward while you type. The struts on the back that give a steeper angle positively click into place and don't appear to be flimsy. The play, forward, and reverse skip buttons at the top with with iTunes. The volume controls and mute work as well. It even has a button in the very upper right hand corner to execute the windows calculator program, so I was able to unpin it from my task bar. I just received this kybd from Amazon today (Saturday, July 16, 2011), so I haven't been able to test out everything. However, I was able to retire my old, junky USB kybd that was driving me crazy and really rock out the 4 projects I have due on Monday. All in all, this is an exceptional keyboard for the money. It uses AA batteries, so I won't have to worry about tossing the keyboard in the trash when the rechargeable battery peters out. Plus, it comes with a wireless mouse that I put in my laptop bag. No more using the stupid touch pad on my laptop! Upsides: Great value, construction is of a higher quality than what you pay for, aesthetically pleasing. Downsides: Not an illuminated kybd. Update (11/8/2014): I am still using this keyboard. I have only changed the batteries in it once. I am now using Windows 8.1 and it continues to work as advertised.
