Cats love it
I bought this for my cats on a whim. First night trying it, and Oliver loves it! I just ordered four more. Three for my other cats, and one for the pup. I would highly recommend.

Took some time but it soothes my girl
I recommend most for kittens and for cats who have lost another cat, say if you had 2 cats and one passed away or is no longer there. This may help with grief/loneliness. I also recommend for kittens. Kittens are born blind and deaf, so purring is how mother and kitten communicate. Purring also helps soothe and heal all stressed cats/kittens. It communicates safety. The purr on this may seem slightly loud or mechanical to us humans but is not abnormal to a cat. Just give it some time.I got this for young (around 6mo’s) feral gal I recently took in. She was young enough that feral bit wasn’t SO intense, but had only lived outside so distrusted anything she’d never seen outdoors before, like pillows, beds, etc. I tried various thing to help her adapt. She’d lived with an older Tom in my neighbors recently vacant yard, but he took off a few weeks before I was able to get her in and thought this toy might help her both with boredom & loneliness. She didn’t like or trust it much at first. When I’d turn it on she’d avoid it, and when I turned off she ignored it. I kept it in her room for a few weeks without turning on and now that she’s settled in, she loves to cuddle kick it when I turn it on. She’ll wrap her arms and legs around it, cuddle it, and kick at same time. She purrs when she does it so I think it must offer some level of comfort and companionship. The Velcro is strong, which is good. I wouldn’t normally leave anything with battery near any animal, but the batteries are in a well sealed plastic box, which is tucked inside toy, and the strong velcro seals that box in.I think the amount of time it’s on, abt 90 secs maybe, is good amount of time, tho I wish there was an option to have it turn on every half hour or so as my cat hasn’t been able to turn it on alone yet. That said, after I’ve turned it many times before, she now enjoys it even while off because she associates it with the purr she has heard from it before, so for the price I think it’s worth it.

Purr sound is much too loud; kitten had to get used to it
Update: After a week or so, the kitten I bought this for decided she loved it. I had to regularly wash it because of how much she would suckle on it. It's now two months later, and she always wants this when she goes to sleep. It's mostly always on the bed in my office, and she comes in and kneads on it before falling asleep. If I don't notice she's come in, she'll meow at me to turn it on since she can't push the button hard enough. The other cats ignore it completely, so it's no longer scary for them, just not interesting. Upping to 4 stars since it just took her some time to get used to it. I would give 5 stars if it were easy enough to push the button for her to turn it on herself when she needs it and if it took AAA batteries or something more common.Original: I have an 8 week old kitten my neighbor brought me when he saw her thrown into the highway at 3 weeks old. While she has a wonderful playmate in the kitten about 3 months older that had followed me home on a walk the week before, she still shows signs of missing her mother when I cuddle her, so I thought the purring pillow would help for the times I can't cuddle her when she wants. Unfortunately, it's too loud and all of my cats hate it, with my male who has adopted the kittens trying to kill it and drag it away from them after seeing the kittens scared, not in a fun, playful way, but in a stressy, protective way, which I have to admit was cute and sweet.I don't have a cat's hearing and am not laying my head on it, and I think it's much too loud and sounds almost more mechanical than real because of that. It also doesn't look anything like the picture either, which they don't care about, but it's not nearly as cute as I expected it to be. I'll give it 3 stars because the baby kitten is sleeping cuddled up to it as I write this as long as I don't turn it on, but it's disappointing to not be able to give her as much comfort as I had hoped.

VERY Mixed Results
I can see this working for some kittens with anxiety or abandonment issues, but for mine (singleton, found alone behind a restaurant at 2 weeks, now age 3), it just terrified him. Any time it turned on, he would run in terror. Needless to say, it’s not in his toys anymore, and we removed the batteries in the purr box. It DOES seem to help my middle cat (6 years, former “teen mom”), who bathes it during thunderstorms. The third cat (now aged 10) ignores it completely. It is durable for the little amount my cats touch it, but it looks nothing like the picture currently displayed for the item. I’ve attached what I received.

Purrfect sleeping buddy.
It's silky soft, cuddly, right size for kitty to lay on and cuddle.Purring seems to be soothing for kitty.Really cute appreance. It has a pleasant smell.Kitty likes to knead it.The quality seems really good.Playability, don't think it would be good for a kitty or dog to be tossing it around. It has battery pack with the device in the head.Makes it heavy and might injure if accidently smacked with it.It makes a perfect night, night sleeping buddy.
