A Sweet Surprise
This was more than a cookbook, it was a walk through memory lane! If you are Gen-X, you probably have fond memories of the old Strawberry Shortcake series, and the introduction to the recipes will bring you back to your childhood. Even if you were not a hardcore fan, this book manages to evoke a beauty and innocence that is every bit as sweet as the recipes inside. The combination of everything from the pink and green color scheme, nostalgic graphic design of polka dots, ribbons, and bows to the fanciful photographs and delicious recipes is just lovely. I couldn't help but be charmed. I can see this being a great gift for fans of the show, fans of yummy treats, and from one generation to another. Or you can just treat yourself, like I did.

A delightful cookbook and cultural history
If you love to prepare gourmet desserts, this is your book. These sophisticated recipes each feature a unique flavor twist or style of presentation. Couched in a celebration of a cartoon pastry chef/children’s television celebrity, Strawberry Shortcake, and her friends in Strawberryland, the cookbook exudes joy and friendliness, which the pink and green themed graphics express exquisitely. In addition to expertly writing an easy-to-follow and well-tested set of recipes, A.K. Whitney writes with humor and authority on the characters and history of the Strawberry Shortcake tribe, having been a fan in her childhood.

Bright, beautiful, delicious!
I had high hopes for this book, and it did not disappoint! It's hardcover with a pretty embossed title. The whole book is just too pretty, with lots of nostalgic vibes for those of us who grew up with Strawberry Shortcake. The photography is playful, colorful, and very inviting, as are all the recipes. Can't wait to make and bake the treats in this charming book!

Fun & Fascinating Cookbook
Very sweet, strawberry shortcake doll driven recipes. My mouth was salivating the entire way through. The author gives tips for each and also interesting facts and tidbits about the dolls. I'm sorry the production of these are going to be stopped, hurry and buy one while you can, you won't be sorry.

A Delight
Love this adorable cookbook full of yummy recipes that bring back fun memories of the SS dolls. My granddaughter has Strawberry Shortcake accessories for her American Girl doll and making some of these recipes with her has been a wonderful activity for the two of us. Love it! Thanks, AK Whitney, for creating such a great cookbook!

it's an okay book, borrow before buying if you can
The pages are matte, not glossy like a magazine or many cookbooks, this is easy on the eyes but not sure how that'd hold up over time in the actual kitchen, seems like spills would more easily wipe off of a glossier finish. The artwork is pretty, there are 36 'photos' in the book. I am not sure if the 'photos' are actually photos, they look more like paintings or something, like the back grounds are fuzzy and don't look real to me. There are no pictures of any of the actual strawberry shortcake characters in the book, which seems puzzling to me since there is quite a bit of talk of the series in the descriptions with the recipes. Perhaps the author was able to get away with text of the series but did not have permission to use the artwork, thus the 'UN-official' part in the title, but it seems there would be both or neither. The book is really not a master of anything, the artwork, the characters being missing, not sure of the actual recipes but doesn't seem like anything special.

I love how the included little descriptions about the deserts on every page.

Really cute with great looking recipes.
This is an utterly charming cookbook, which isn’t something I say about many cookbooks. The recipes look so inviting, especially the blueberry ginger cheesecake and the apple dumplings. Can’t wait to dig in.
