Very easy to use and gives accurate readings
I changed from a Hayward T3 salt cell to a generic brand. The new salt cell works fine but it would not calibrate to the actual salt readings. I bought this to use and found it matched my pool stores reading exactly. Very easy to use. I dry it off before I put the cap on and put it away.

Directions way too complicated written Hi, someone who speaks another language.
I read the directions halfway through and realized life is too short. Way too complicated more work than sticking a test strip in the water.

Reasonable Product for pond
This is simple to use for a pond, but you need to know your variables for your pond to be able to use it. We use it to keep our Koi pond at .1% salinity. There is an accuracy margin that makes this difficult to be 100% certain, but we have pond plants that are a very good indicator too. We also keep it in the water for a couple minutes when there's a big difference between air temp and pond temp to be sure the temp reading is as accurate as possible. If we do it too fast, we can be off by .02%+. In 8 months, it has maintained its calibration and performed consistently. We make sure to rinse with distilled water and use a paper towel to soak up extra water drops without touching the nodes to ensure no buildup affects the readings. I do not fully submerge it. I have excellent water flow so the full pond volume moves through the waterfall 2-3ร per hour though. Not all ponds are equal. This has worked very well for us, but if you have a slow pump, I recommend getting a sample in a cup/bucket on a stick to get a sample from bottom to top and measuring that. I get consistent readings in the waterfall and any spot of my pond. The temp is accurate to my pond thermometer within a minute or two. With winter, the meter is as warm as the house then I put it in 40ยฐF or colder water, it needs a minute or so. In late summer when water and air were about the same still, it was pretty instantaneous. We also do the math on paper when changing water and adding salt back. Dual checks are important to preserve plant life and protect the fish. We might buy a more expensive salinity only someday, but you can be diligent and use this to *verify your results. You shouldn't ever blindly use a meter with living things. Always calculate by pond volume too. It's just what you do to be certain. Ther isn't a simple way to use salt in a pond. But there is a simple way to check on your results!
