Nutone0695B000 Motor Assembly for QT80 Series Fans

This is a great solution to noisy or dead fan motors in 90's era NuTone bathroom exhaust fans. They have a rectangular opening, which isn't common today, so it would be a ton of work to replace the entire exhaust fan unit. Replacement fan units are mostly square now, so the existing opening must be adapted to the replacement unit. This motor is a drop-in replacement in the existing NuTone unit - you keep the housing and wiring and just replace the motor and fan as a single part. Three screws for the motor into the housing and then three screws to put the assembly back into the unit and you are done. Really helpful and a simple do-it-yourself job. Replacement motor and fan are the same quality as the original and just as quiet. I have four of these fans in my house, very happy to have found a solution.

Existing fan had grown gradually noisier over 16 years, so I ordered a replacement motor assembly rather than incur the hassle and labor of removing the existing QT-80-NB housing in favor of a completely new fan model. Before removing the original fan motor, I took a noise level measurement by resting my iPhone at the top of a step ladder directly below the fan (approx. 4 ft. away from the fan cover): 73.0 dB.When I received the new fan, I plugged it in (on the kitchen counter) and compared it to the (removed) existing fan motor (also on the kitchen counter). To be honest, I could not tell the much of a difference in noise level. The old fan seemed just as quiet sitting side by side (uninstalled).I almost decided to return the fan right then, but decided the comparison would only be 'legitimate' in the installed state. So I installed the new motor completely and did the same noise level measurement. I could tell it was less just by listening when I energized the new motor (installed). The actual measured noise was 59.3 dB, a reduction of 13.7 dB. The audible difference is the absence of a loud motor 'hum' that existed with the original motor.In fact, the reduction was probably even a little bit more, as the ambient noise (without fan running) was 3.7 dB higher during the test of the new motor relative to the original motor (50.7 dB vs. 47.0 dB) because it was later in the day and there were (audible) HVACs running outside.Bottom line: I was skeptical upon receipt, but I'm glad I installed the new motor. I'm sure it's not as quiet as some more modern exhaust fans on the market, but the replacement fan motor has made a remarkable, noticeable difference, and was WAY easier than tearing out ceiling to remove/replace the fan housing. I've actually ordered two more to do the same job in the other bathrooms of my house.

Fit well and operating quietly. Really great that Nutone has a replacement for a fan that was installed in my house in 1978.

It was an exact fit for the box in the ceiling. Pricey yes, ease of install yes for the most part. The plug in does have one larger prong. I had to use my dremel to make it like the other. After that, was installed in about 15 minutes. Mostly due to may age and a bad knee. Very happy with the purchase and the seller as well as Amazon!!

While it's too expensive for what it is, it works perfectly, installs easily and actually is a bit quieter than the original fan. You'll need some adhesive foam tape for the outlet vent.

This dropped in easily as expected and runs great! We're very pleased with this replacement motor -- glad to have it.

I took a gamble and ordered this to replace a very old Model QT-80N-B and it worked perfectly! I wish we would have done this years ago since we were putting up with such a noisy, clunking fan. Now it just hums and purrs. We were lucky that there was a plug under to base to install (we thought it may be hardwired due to age and previous workmanship throughout the house. Highly recommend

Have purchased 2 of these and they work great and easy to install. Purchased a new house and both fans made bad noise and one died. Replaced. Definitely would purchase again and highly recommend.
