This chess set looks very impressive in person. The board is solid and heavy, with the smooth, cool feel you expect from marble. The pieces and the board look like a single, stylish set, which makes it work both as a game and as a decorative piece on a shelf or table. The set arrived well-packaged, and everything inside was protected. The storage case had a slightly dented corner, but it didn’t affect the pieces or the overall impression — the chess set itself still looks elegant and high-quality. Overall, it’s a beautiful, weighty set that feels premium and makes a great gift.

I'm so pleased I chose this set among the many on Amazon and ebay. The board and pieces have nice weight and are beautiful marble. What many of the other sets don't have is a high quality hard case with an insert of foam slots for the individual pieces. There is also padding inside of the case for the board which fits between that padding the soft underside of the chess pieces insert. In short, my new gorgeous set is protected. You might want to leave it out as a decorative conversation piece (but that's not an option with the animals in my home.) We are getting away from "computer simulated board games" and much prefer the tactile nature of games like chess - this is a set that fits the bill perfectly :)

Grandson loves chess and is in a chess club at 12 yrs of age and was thoroughly excited to receive this beautiful set for Christmas. He’s become a chess master and beats adults. Very nice item and packed good too.

I was pleasantly surprised just by the weight of the box when this arrived. I wasn't expecting both the board and the pieces to be such heavy pieces of marble, but they are and it's a true show-piece and pleasure to play with. The added carry box and the sponge feet for the pieces are a nice touch to keep it protected. One downside is, the inlay to hold the pieces in the carry box are too small for the pieces.
